2014 PIRATES AT A GLANCE The 2014 season represents the start of a new era in Pirates football, as it will be the first for head coach Connell Maynor. Maynor comes to Hampton after a four-year stint at Div. II Winston-Salem State, where he went 45-6 overall (29-2 in league play) and won three straight CIAA titles. Under his leadership, the Rams advanced all the way to the Div. II national championship game in 2012.

Maynor will bring that championship experience to Armstrong Stadium, as well as a coaching staff full of familiar faces to him – including offensive coordinator John Eder, wide receivers coach Duane Taylor, and running backs coach Michael Ramseur, all of whom coached at WSSU with Maynor. 2014 HAMPTON UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL Statistical Comparison (2013) He also brings in former Fayetteville State head coach Kenny Phillips to be the defensive coordinator, along with defensive line coach Gary Lowery – who also HAM ODU Points per game 21.8 42.3 spent time coaching at Fayetteville State.
