Advanced Production Technology 1927 - the onward group

One of the top fashion houses in Japan, The Onward Group built the very foundations of ready-made clothing in Japan and is a pioneer in the field of made-to-order menswear. The Onward Group, a heritage brand, was founded in 1927 and has been manufacturing menswear for more than 60 years. With technological and stylistic innovations at their forefront, they created the first easily operable, made-to-order clothing system using computer-aided design in Japan. Through their 50+ clothing brands, Onward collected more than 200,000 unique body data measurements over the years to create a new brand that specializes in expert fit, style and design. Combining their fit knowledge and manufacturing techniques, 90 years later, Onward would launch a new brand of made-to-measure suits: KASHIYAMA. 2017- kashiyama

frequently asked questions

Why KASHIYAMA and custom suits? Our Style Guides assess your personal posture to ensure our tailored clothing goes beyond what alterations can do to off-the-rack garments. In addition to base measurements, you’ll be able to try on various pieces to see and feel some of the adjustments and fabrics that your custom stylist will make to your unique fit profile.

How long does the appointment last? Your initial appointment in our Guide Shop will take about one hour. This will allow time to meet with a stylist on your needs and preferences, browse fabric samples, try-on sample garments, take measurements and review customizations options.

What different customizations do you offer? Customers can choose from dozens of customizations, like personalized monogramming and an assortment of interior lining colors, to make garments that are truly their own. The variety of options is nearly endless and will help make your tailored suit one-of-a-kind.

Do you have any casual options? Our Modern Tailor line is the perfect choice for a more casual look and feel. The suits are made without lining and without shoulder padding for a more relaxed, comfortable fit. This line is also made using machine-washable fabrics.

Where are fabrics sourced? Fabrics are sourced from across Italy, the U.K. and China to ensure a variety of choices and price points for our clients. Collections are curated to meet client lifestyles, from prestigious mills such as Vitale Barberis Canonico and Loro Piana to ongoing partnerships with mills in China offering exclusive fabrics to meet our highest specifications.

Do you offer anything besides suits? Not yet, but we will soon! In the U.S., we plan on launching men’s shirts and women’s suits through KASHIYAMA, and we have plans to further expand the range of products offered under this brand. SHOWROOMS
