Tipping is not a science and can be confusing. Reportedly, Utahns are especially cheap when it comes to tipping. It’s easier to figure 10% rather than 14% and, to many, it seems reasonable that a tip should be no more favorable than a faithful tithing payment. I’ve even known people who delete the sales tax before calculating the server tip. At the same time, it is not uncommon for customers to leave no tip at all when picking up a take-out order from a server. The jury may be out on this one; there is certainly a difference between not tipping a cashier at a takeout pizza joint and not tipping a full-service restaurant server who prepared the salad and packaged the three-entrée order with the accompanying condiments. They can recall the clueless family that allowed their children to litter the floor with crumpled saltine crackers and discarded fries, and then “stiffed” the server for not delivering a fourth Dr. Pepper to one of the undisciplined brats. There are people who also object to the entire concept of tipping. They argue that restaurant owners should pay the servers a decent wage folding the added cost into the meal as is the custom internationally. I can’t argue with this view, but wonder if they would visit restaurants as 6 Wednesday, July 29, 2020 NEWS Iron County Today Op inion Religious liberty is at the heart of Pioneer Day hen freedom of were talking about more than the to administer last rites to dying Americans and as human beings. A true friend knows when to be the lighthouse, and when to be the rescue boat; even if they must dismantle their soap box to build that boat. This is important because when you have been hurt, feel like a failure, or are afraid of facing your future, you can endure most anything when you know you’re not alone. Not just having another person being there in person, but being there emotionally and even spiritually. A true friend doesn’t just stand up for you, they stand with you, beside you to the end. Odin was one of the Norse gods. It was said that he created the universe. He was the god of magic, wisdom, war, poetry, and the alphabet.

A Norse origin myth says that Odin and his two younger brothers, Vili and Ve, killed the frost giant Ymir. They used Ymir’s bones, blood, and flesh to form the universe.

The goddess Frigg was Odin’s wife and she alone HEIMDALL could sit with him on his UNIVERSE high seat, or throne.
