Scotty Wood Stadium has been very friendly to the Muhlenberg women’s la- crosse team, which is 21-8 at home the last four years. Th e Mules set a a school record with six home wins in 2009. Th e facility is named for two prominent fi gures in the school’s athletic history. Th e stadium honors the late Milton W. “Scotty” Wood for his many years of support and service to the College and its scholar athletes. He began Wood Dining Services, now prominent in the food service industry, in 1947 by feed- ing Muhlenberg basketball players. Th e Mules’ annual tipoff basketball tourna- ment is also named in his honor. Th e fi eld honors Frank Marino, one of the most beloved coaches in school history. He led the football team to a 54-40-6 record from 1970 to 1980 and was 1976 Middle Atlantic Conference coach of the year. Marino served the athletic department in numerous other capacities – including head women’s lacrosse coach in 1986 – dur- ing his 34-year association with the College, earning the respect, loyalty and admiration of hundreds of young men and women.
