Contemporary BIOGRAPHY Bernhard Gander

Bernhard Gander was born in Lienz, Austria in 1969. He studied piano, conducting and composition at the Tyrolean State Conservatory and was a student of the composer Beat Furrer at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz. He has worked with Julio Estrada and Curtis Roads at the Studio UPIC; he also spent time at the Swiss Centre for Computer Music in Zurich.

Gander was awarded the City of Vienna’s Prize for the Advancement of Music in 2004, the Austrian State Stipend for Composers in 2005 and 2007 and was the 2006 recipient of the Erste Bank Composition Award.
