Support for anyone affected by a life limiting illness in North West Local Business Partnerships Our thanks go to David Marriott of Cellar Trends, Ashby de la Zouch, for generously donating a new laptop, software and printer to Hospice Hope. The donation has meant that we are now able to adminster the charity more effectively and produce publicity material and newsletters in house, which has proved to be very positive and cost effective. Cellar Trends of Ashby, are a hugely successful private company in the wine and spirits industry, employing over 430 full and part time people, both locally and nationally.

Unfortunately we have to report that we missed out on both. The Ivanhoe Office Park, where we proposed to build a new, bespoke unit, turned out to greatly exceed our budget at a sum of over £1.2 million. Rose Cottage Farm, Swannington, was an ideal site for us, with an existing farm house that we could have used in the beginning, and the option to extend the original building or build a bespoke building in the 2.5 acres of countryside land, which was included in the purchase price. Although we made an offer, at the proposed asking price of £395,000, the owner decided to sell to someone else, which was a real blow to us all. In the last week or two we have looked at five properties with the view to them being possible contenders for our proposed Day Care Centre. These will be discussed at our next Trustee’s meeting in early July. We would like your help, if you think that you may know of a piece of land or a property that we can convert, please do not hesitate to contact us. We have just received the details of a shop on Market Street, Ashby that we have been watching, with the view of opening our first charity shop. The premises will be inspected by some of our Trustees soon. We will keep you updated of any progress. Ashby Medical Centre have agreed to Hospice Hope having a 4 monthly promotion session in their foyer and this has already led to a new lady attending the Support Café. A visit to the local carers support group has also proved fruitful and a gentleman and his partner are now also attending. My greatest pleasure by far has been getting to know the amazing people who attend the Friday afternoon Support Café. It has been a real privilege to see how people support and encourage each other and the positive atmosphere and energy they create.
