NOTES FOR PARENTS / GUARDIANS

1. World Book Day – We will be celebrating World Book Day on Thursday 5 th March with a ‘dress up’ day – children are invited to dress up as their favourite book character and bring the book to school. We also have a local author visiting the school and children will be off curriculum for the day to enjoy reading and writing activities. Parents are invited to join us at 2.30pm for a ‘Share A Story’ reading session.

2. Film Club – Please note that there will be no Film Club on Wednesday 4 th March due to other staffing commitments. Film Club will resume on Wednesday 11 th March with Mrs Sanchez Daviu. Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience. Thank you.

3. Swimming Help – We are short of swimming helpers on Wednesday 11th March. If you are able to help accompany our Year 3/4 swimmers to and from their swimming lessons, from 1.00 – 3.15pm, please let Miss Jones or the school office know. Thank you.

4. Scholastic Books – The latest Scholastic Book catalogue has been sent home with the children this week. Orders may be placed via the school or online at www.scholastic.co.uk/clubs . If you would like to place an order via the school, please return order forms with payment by Friday 13th March. Thank you.

5. Sport Relief – Advance notice that we will be supporting Sport Relief on Friday 13 th March with a non-uniform day. Children are invited to wear sports clothes to school for a suggested donation of £1 per child to Sport Relief. Children will be involved in various sporting activities during the day.

6. Road Closure – Kent County Council have advised us that Lenham Road will be closed on 9 th March for 5 days, from the Hill/Chegworth Road junction to the property, Holly Oak. If applicable, please allow extra time for your journeys to and from school. Thank you.

7. Nut Free School – Mrs Sanchez Daviu would like to say a big ‘thank you’ to parents and children for their diligence and support with our commitment to be a nut free school.

8. Lunchtime Awards – A Lunchtime Award and a place on our ‘special table’ is presented to Bernice Howard for being helpful with KS1 children at lunchtime and to Jessica Barden for improved behaviour and being kind & helpful to KS1 children.

9. Attendance and Punctuality - Maple Class are the winners of this week’s Attendance Ted with 99.22% attendance. Chestnut Class are the winners of Early Bird with 0.66% lates. Well done children!

10. MGS Summer Activities – Please see attached a letter and flyer from Grammar School with details of their Summer Activities Club which will be running from the 27th to 31st July.

11. Parish Litter Pick – Please see the school noticeboard for details of the Parish Litter Pick on Sunday 15 th March.
