DETAILED NOTE ON THE PROJECT

The road from DornalaT-Junction to Atmakur in is recently declared as National Highway by GOI and assigned National Highway Number NH-67.Now Rehabilitation and Upgradation of the reach from Dornala T-Junction to Atmakur i.e from Km.641/000 to 695/000 is sanctioned by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MORT&H),GOl for Rs. 251.55 Cr. and the work is entrusted to the Agency M/s SRK Constructions & Projects Pvt Ltd, Hyderabad.

NH 67 is the newly converted National highway it is the important Highway starting from Ramnagar on NH-748 connecting Dhanryad, Huballi, Gadag, Koppal, Hospet, Bellary in the state of Karnataka connecting Gooty,Tadipatri, Muddanuru, Maidukuru, Badvel, Atmakur, on NH-16 and terminating at in the state of Andhra pradesh.lt is the major road in Andhrapradesh connecting Mineral rich districts of Karnataka and Andhra pradesh with Krishnapatnam Port.lt is fast becoming a port of choice for all international cargo originating from and destined to the Southern and Central lndia. Widening and improvement of this section of NH-67 would further improve smooth and safe traffic flow and improve level of service. ln addition to above ,substantial economic gain in terms of reduced Vehicle Operating Cost (VOC) and reduced travel time will be achieved.

The road from Km.641+000 to Km.647+000 (6.00 km) is passing in Singanapalli A and Udaigiri-Veligonda Reserve Forests and from Km. to 654+680 to 657+000 (2.320 km) is passing in Bommavaram Reserve Forests in Atmakur range of SPS where, as per Gazette No.44D & GO.Ms No.560 Forest & Rural Development Dept. (For-lll) dt.10.08.1978,a width of one chain (i.e.20.1'l m) is admitted as Right Of way.

. As the existing road only is being widened to two lane with paved shoulders ( a land width of 20.00 m is required, outof which Bituminous surfacewill be 10.0 and the rest of land is for provision of gravel shoulders, side slopes and longitudinal drains. At present the total road width in these stretches including berms, side drains is 16.00 m [7.00 m of B.T surface 5.00 m of berms (2.50 m on each side) and 4.00m of side slopes (2.00m on each side)l.Hence we seek linear diversion of forest land to a width of 4.00 m (2.00 m on each side additionally) which requires a diversion 3.328 Ha of forest land. Hence proposal is submitted for diversion of forest land.
