The Blackwater International Coal Centre was BMA’s first Landmark Project, with BMA contributing almost $1.5 million towards its development, along with the Queensland and Federal Governments, the Central Highlands Regional Council and a number of other coal mining companies and suppliers. One of BMA’s owners, Mitsubishi Development Corporation, separately contributed an additional $500,000 to upgrade the adjacent Japanese Garden. The centre is seen as a unique addition to the Blackwater community, combining education, tourism and much needed facilities for locals, as well as providing insight into the Australian coal industry.

Lifestream Triathlon – An all abilities triathlon engaging all sections of the greater Mackay region to raise funds for the LifeStream Foundation, which supports people with intellectual disabilities.
