NOTICE OF RACE

The notation ‘[DP]’ in a rule in the Notice of Race means that the penalty for a breach of that rule may, at the discretion of the protest committee, be less than disqualification.

1 RULES 1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing. ​ ​ ​

1.2 The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing ​ Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board located at the Lake Monroe Sailing Association (LMSA) Clubhouse, 531 N. Palmetto Ave., Sanford, Florida 32771.

2 ADVERTISING 2.1 Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority. If this ​ rule is broken, World Sailing Regulation 20.9.2 applies. [DP]

3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY 3.1 The regatta is open to all boats to compete in either one-design or Portsmouth D-PN racing. ​

3.2 One-design classes require a minimum of five boats registered by the registration deadline. Expected classes include: ; San Juan 21; ; RS Aero; Hobie Wave; Capri 22; Catalina 22; Windmill; ; Division; Open Portsmouth Division

3.3 One-design classes without five boats registered by the registration deadline are invited to participate ​ in the Portsmouth division(s). Racing in these divisions will require a Portsmouth D-PN number.

3.4 Division splits and class selections may be adjusted at the discretion of the Organizing Authority. A ​ class or division may start with other compatible divisions or classes.

3.5 Class rules will apply for all one-design fleets except where otherwise noted in the supplemental saili​ ng instructions.

3.6 Eligible boats may enter by completing the online registration at Regatta Network: ​ https://www.regattanetwork.com/event/21436

3.7 Eligible boats may also enter by completing the attached form and sending it, together with the required fees, to Lake Monroe Sailing Association, Sanford Sailfest Regatta, PO Box 297, Sanford, Fl 32772. Hardcopy registrations must be postmarked on or before midnight November 20, 2020, to qualify for early registration.

3.8 All registrations must be accompanied with payment to be considered valid, registrations on Regatta Network that are unpaid will be charged the late registration fee of $80.

3.9 Entries will be accepted until 1015 hours on Saturday December 5th. ​ ​

3.10 All competitors will be required to sign the Lake Monroe Sailing Association, Inc. Release of Liability and Authorization Agreement, to be eligible to Race.

4 FEES 4.1 Required fees are as follows: ​ th Early registration is $60.00 until 2400 hrs. November 20 .​ th ​ Late registration is $80 until 1015 hrs. December 5 i​ n person. (2400 hrs. December 3rd Online) ​

*Due to COVID-19 regulations there will be no included dinner with regatta registration

4.2 Regatta fees are non-refundable. ​

6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS The sailing instructions will consist of the instructions in RRS Appendix S, Standard Sailing Instructions, and supplementary sailing instructions that will be on the official notice board. The sailing instructions th will be available after 800 hrs. on December 5 ​ at the LMSA Clubhouse. ​ 7 VENUE The regatta will be sailed on Lake Monroe, Sanford, Florida.

8 THE COURSES The courses to be sailed will be windward/leeward and/or a triangle.

9 PENALTY SYSTEM 9.1 For all classes, RRS 44.1 is changed so that the Two-Turns Penalty is replaced by the One-Turn Pena​ lty when the incident occurs outside the “zone” of a .

10 SCORING 10.1 The Low Point System of Appendix A will be used ​ 10.2 (a) One race is required to be completed to constitute a series. ​ ​ (b) When fewer than 6 races have been completed, a boat’s score will be the total of her race scores. (c) When 6 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.

11 RADIO COMMUNICATION Except in an emergency, a boat that is racing shall not make voice or data transmissions and shall not receive voice or data communication that is not available to all boats. [DP]

12 PRIZES st nd rd Prizes will be given to the 1 ​, 2 ​ and 3 ​ place finishers of each division. ​ ​ ​ 13 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.

14 INSURANCE Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance.
