Project Location: Entebbe for most Theoretical Training Programs and Tororo for the initial practical training programs, Iganga the final and permanent place for practical training programs.

PROJECT SUMMARY Objectives

1. To establish a nationally accredited and internationally-recognized Aviation Training School in which offers ICAO approved courses for the industry.

2. To be a center for Aviation Research, Consultancy and Aviation Supplies in the region.

3. To establish strategic partnership with larger and highly regarded training institutions to the center to offer wider training port folio and related services and products both within and outside the region.

4. To combine the core Aviation business with activities that support and supplement the Aviation element of the business such as light air craft maintenance, storage, aviation shop, charters, tours, hostel and health club among others.

PROBLEM STATEMENT Project necessity: This business opportunity has involved over time following the collapse of the east African community formed by the then 3 partner states of Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania in 1972 which had established aviation training centers to serve the then East African Airways.

There was withdrawal of funding both locally and internationally, including personnel besides ownership and management challenges. There has also been very low investment in aviation and other transport related training in the region as a whole. Besides, the training centers were designed to offer quite a limited range of aviation training thus flying, engineering and air traffic control , the current population of 400 million as per regional statistics is also far beyond training centers’ capacity to handle. This renders the market is untapped; Moriah Aviation Center will therefore base its business on delivering comprehensive aviation training programs and related products and services.

Problem to be addressed

The current school of aviation in Uganda, which has been the leading center provides training limited to only pilots and engineers, leaving many of the other aviation fields unserved. Furthermore its enrollment to date is well beyond its capacity to handle, which has left a big number of students with very limited training options within the region and Africa. This is also representative of the current state of the aviation industry in the region and Africa.

Following the recent growth in aviation industry, combined with the factors below, the demand for aviation training is rising very fast. 1. Retirement of experienced personnel without planned replacement. 2. Influx of trained personnel to the first world for greener pastures. 3. Students from outside Africa due to seasonal delays by the climate. 4. Low operational costs in Uganda. 5. Favorable investment climate (all year).

As per the statistics of the African Conferences on Training and Recruitment held in June 2012: 1. Of the 35 training institutions in Africa surveyed, only 5 centers are equipped for quality output thus they have the facilities necessary for training. 2. 67% of these schools have less than 10 permanent instructors; Over 60% of Aviation Training for Institutions in Africa is done abroad or imported. 3. By 2020 the projected aviation personnel demand will be 14,300 for pilots and 19,500 for engineers besides other personnel needs yet the effort to counter this shortage in time is meager.

Moriah aviation Training Center is has been designed to provide quality and timely training for the three key aviation areas namely: 1. Regulatory 2. Airlines 3. Ground operations

Project Activities

Moriah Aviation Training Center programs have been designed in an interrelated set up so that they create a favorable environment to each other by materiality or otherwise contributing to the others betterment. Below are the project programs:

1. Aviation Training The School will provide comprehensive port folio of aviation training programs which will include long term (core) and short term (supplementary certificate) courses.

2. Capacity Building The school will provide a Health Club, Restaurant, conference facilities and Hostels for Participants and the public.

3. Tourism Packages The center will establish an aviation museum and other such services that influence tourism

4. Aviation shop The center will avail day to day needs for like uniforms, Navigation computers, Flight boards, e.t.c to the industry personnel. 5. Light aircraft maintenance workshop The center will establish a maintenance workshop which will also offer light aircraft maintenance services to other operators.

More business opportunities will be developed as the center progresses

Returns and Beneficiaries

The entire project is aimed at providing an extensive range of aviation training programs and related products and services that are able to generate sufficient returns to promote its objectives and aims as well as provide profit.

Company Contribution

So far the following areas have been achieved towards the project actualization namely:-  We have researched and identified a civil aviation approved Air Field suitable for initial flight training.  We have already carried out the initial Market Survey to find out the Market – needs and response towards quality training to be offered by the project.  We have established a wide net work for aviation clientele and professional support in the sub region and beyond.  We have identified suitable facilities for hosting the Training Center. This involves the training Classrooms, offices and related capacity building facilities.

 We have internal capacity to deliver much of the proposed training programs.  We have developed a complete business plan to implement the project.  We have initiated the company registration process which should be complete soon.  We are also finalizing to prepare certification process required by CAA .  Currently we offer aviation tutoring services although informally.  We have also initiated consultation with Uganda Investment Authority to establish any incentives available for aviation; This is not yet complete.

We are well aware of the challenges of opening a new training center, but we are confident that this is a business opportunity that is bound to grow .We have also developed an exhaustive implementation strategy to ensure the success of this venture.

MANAGEMENT SUMMARY

As more advanced planning continues on, a full core management team will be finalized considering experience in the aviation industry, finance, instructorship and management. PROJECT SCOPE

The project is planned to be initially carried out in rented building premises which can accommodate training classrooms and offices. The strategic location of the project in the heart of Africa and about 800 meters off Entebbe Airport Highway and near makes the site easily accessible and utilized by many students … Also being only 12 Kilo meters from Entebbe International Airport and two kilo meters off the shores of Lake Victoria all contribute to its success. Besides, we shall be leasing Aircrafts and related training Equipments as suggested by our instructors for each Aviation program

Moriah Aviation Services

The Aviation Training Center will consist of: Classrooms, library, conference facility administrative offices, aviation shop, modern training equipment/facilities Restaurant, Health Club, hostels and resting & recreation facilities. All these are aimed at providing service and comfort to students, participants, workers and visitors.

Anticipated Challenges  Competition from foreign and nearby Aviation Training school in the East African region  Startup capital requirement  Acceptability in the market quickly being a new player

KEYS TO SUCCESS

 Two campus location of the training center provides both local and international clientele with flexible, convenient learning schedule and environment i.e. in Entebbe and Tororo/Iganga.
