Rulon Gardner is an Olympic Greco Roman heavyweight wrestler who won the gold medal as a huge underdog after defeating the reigning champion, Alexander Karelin, from Siberia. Karelin had dominated the sport for more than a decade and was considered a shoo-in to win the gold again. Gardner took advantage of a mistake early on in the match, then fought hard to hang on for the win.
