The research provides policy makers with a clear picture of what has transpired in the cartel sphere over the past twenty years. Supervisor: Prof Willem Boshoff MComm Economics, Stellenbosch University 2016-2017 Masters Dissertation: An update of the South African poverty profile This study analysed the prevalence of poverty in South Africa across various household characteristics using the national Income and Expenditure Survey data of 2010/2011. The paper highlighted the main features of poverty and illustrated its manifestation across various household characteristics. BComm (Hons) Economics, Stellenbosch University 2015 Honours Dissertation: Characteristics of internal labour migration and remittances in 21st century South Africa Using the 2012 National Income Dynamics Survey, this paper explored the socio-economic differences between remittance receiving households and non-remittance receiving households. Work Stellenbosch University: Department of Economics May 2018 – Present Experience Lecturer Second year Microeconomics Econex: Competition and applied Economics Jan 2017 – April 2018 Economic Analyst Since joining Econex I have been exposed to projects in the telecommunications, health, broadcasting, alcoholic beverages, mining and entertainment sectors. On these projects I conducted research, analysed data and wrote reports and blogs. On the cases I worked on market definition analysis, research on case present and developing theories of harm. Key proficiencies: Report writing, data analysis and research. International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) Jun 2016-Jul 2016 Summer Intern While I was at the International Finance Corporation (IFC) I worked in the Office of the Chief Economist. This was a great learning experience as I contributed to the development of a macroeconomic report for the purpose of encouraging investment in the North African region, to be submitted for the Tokyo International Conference on African Development. My time at the IFC also involved attending presentations by economists on macroeconomic developments in various regions of the World. Key proficiencies: Data analysis using Excel and report writing. Centre for Financial Regulation and Inclusion (Cenfri) Mar 2016 – Apr 2016 Research Intern During my time at Cenfri I contributed to research into developing countries in Africa for reports aimed at encouraging investment into projects that would facilitate financial inclusion. Stellenbosch University Jan 2015 – Nov 2016 Economics Tutor This involved preparing and presenting tutorial classes for first year microeconomics and macroeconomics courses. Dec 2012/3 – Jan 2013/4 Vacation work student (Intern) As a Sasol bursary-holder I worked as an intern in the supply chain division. I worked on a project analyzing the efficiency of a scheduled plant shutdown. This required me to work with a large dataset containing details of the procurement process pre- and post-shutdown. I was then required to present my findings to management and provide recommendations to ensure efficiency for future plant shutdowns.

Community  StelliesHive (Co-Founder) StelliesHive is a young professionals network in Stellenbosch that serves as a platform for young Service professionals to connect, build friendships and to engage on various topics that shape our society. The initiative was founded with the purpose of tackling the difficulty of integrating as a young professional into the student-dominated town of Stellenbosch. Through formal monthly speaker events and social gatherings, we build community, have conversations, expand our networks, and challenge our ideas.  Manenberg leadership program – 2016 I was part of a team which developed a leadership and career guidance program for learners from a high school in the Manenberg township on the outskirts of Cape Town.  Homework Club – 2015 Part of a team of volunteer tutors from New Generation Church (Stellenbosch) that was involved in tutoring primary school learners in Kayamandi.
