About Monash Medical Centre (Clayton) – Intensive Care Unit The Monash Medical Centre Clayton Intensive Care Unit is a 26 bed tertiary referral unit, accredited with the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) for General Training (Core Intensive Care /C24) as well as fulfilling the CICM requirements for subspecialty exposure to Cardiothoracic and Neurology/Neurosurgical Intensive Care. The Monash Medical Centre Intensive Care Unit also provides a state-wide Obstetric Intensive Care Referral service, a Renal / Renal-Pancreas Transplant service and supports a comprehensive range of medical and surgical subspecialties. We offer a highly stimulating and enjoyable clinical work environment, with an active and dynamic Intensivist led education program, including: Weekly Registrar and Senior Registrar education Dedicated CICM Part I and Part II teaching (CICM trainees) An established Point of Care Ultrasound Program (ICU PoCUS) – led by Monash Health Sonographers and Intensivists and accredited by the CICM Externally recognised courses – including Advanced Life Support (ALS Level 2), Cardiac Surgery Advanced Life Support (CALS-ANZ), Basic Assessment and Support in Intensive Care (BASIC) A formal Mentoring Program The Monash Medical Centre Intensive Care Unit also has a strong Research Program, affiliated with Monash University and ANZICS, which offers a wide variety of opportunities. CICM trainees may also apply to undertake rotations in Anaesthesia and Medicine during their employment with Monash Health. Select candidates may also apply to undertake a rotation in Paediatric Intensive Care (PICU) at the adjoining Monash Children’s Hospital (MCH) – please note that a separate application is required for MCH PICU Registrar Roles. About the Role An exciting opportunity exists for suitably qualified applicants to fulfil Intensive Care Registrar or Senior Registrar positions at the Monash Medical Centre (Clayton) Intensive Care Unit for 2021. Successful applicants will be able to commence work in February or August 2021 (specifics of any proposed part-time arrangements will be discussed at interview). Registrars and Senior Registrars will be responsible for the care of acutely unwell patients (under the supervision of an Intensivist) within the Monash Medical Centre Intensive Care Unit. Successful applicants will also provide care to acutely unwell patients in the wider hospital as part of their role within the hospital’s Code Blue and Medical Emergency (MET) Teams. Registrars and Senior Registrars are expected to display a high level of professionalism, and work as part of a multi- professional team. There is a strong focus on career development and progress through the College of Intensive Care Medicine (CICM) Training scheme. About You We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated doctors who are looking to join our friendly and highly motivated team of Intensivists, Intensive Care Nurses, Intensive Care Pharmacists and Allied Health Professionals. What you need: A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent), which is recognised for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) A current Employee Working with Children Check Previous ICU experience at registrar level in an equivalent healthcare setting is highly desirable.
