Individual Notes Freshmen Jacoby Brissett (QB) and A.C. Leonard (TE) made their first career starts this afternoon. Brissett became the first true freshman Gator quarterback to take his first career snap as the starter. Brissett joins Wayne Peace (1980), Donald Douglas (1989), Jesse Palmer (1997) and Chris Leak (2003) as true freshman quarterbacks who have started for Florida in school history. Brissett was 8-for-14 yards with 94 yards, two interceptions and one touchdown. Chris Rainey’s 25-yard run in the first quarter was the longest rush against LSU this season. The previous best was a 17- yard run. Rainey had a team-high 13 carries and had 52 yards rushing. Mike Gillislee’s first kickoff return of the season went for 19 yards in the second quarter. Gillislee finished with a team-high 56 yards on nine carries. Jon Bostic’s team-leading third sack went for a loss of eight yards in the second quarter. Caleb Sturgis’ 34-yard field goal late in the second quarter capped a 14-play, 59-yard drive that consumed 6:42. Sturgis is now 13-for-14 this season on field goals and has at least one in all six games this year. Andre Debose had a 25-yard kick return in the third quarter. Brissett hooked up with Debose for a 65-yard touchdown in the third quarter for his first career TD pass. It was the longest TD pass by a true Gator freshman in his first career start and the second-longest completion by a UF true freshman quarterback in his starting debut (69 yards, Chris Leak to Carlos Perez vs. Kentucky in 2003). Debose’s second receiving touchdown of the season followed up his 65-yard scoring reception against Alabama. Rainey converted the Gators’ first two-point attempt of the season to close the gap to 27-11. Solomon Patton was credited with a punt block in the fourth quarter, his second of the season and the third of his career. Bostic finished with a career-high 13 tackles, while Matt Elam (12), Sharrif Floyd (11), Dominique Easley (9) and Michael Taylor (7) also set personal bests.
