Gates will appear on the AAA Travel Stage at the Great Vacations Travel EXPO at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 4. He will share incredible details of his most nail-biting adventures, including his discovery of a mysterious “Yeti” footprint in the Himalayas, which is now on display in the Expedition Everest attraction at Walt Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Orlando. In addition to having the unique opportunity to see Gates in person, EXPO guests will get to ask him questions and meet him for autographs following his stage appearance. From scouring the countryside of Japan in search of a mystical samurai sword to descending into pitch-black caverns in Mexico to discover the secrets of the Maya, Gates’ Travel Channel crew has trekked to the most remote corners of the planet in immersive and exhilarating, yet hilarious, journeys of discovery. Expedition Unknown blends Gates’ unique brand of humor with his passion for exploration. An avid scuba diver and photographer, Josh has participated in sub-sea archaeological excavations. His unconventional career allows him to use his dual degrees from Tufts University, in archeology and drama, while his wanderlust has taken him to more than 90 countries, from sweltering African deserts to the icy shores of Antarctica. Prior to joining the Travel Channel team, Josh co-produced and starred in the hit Syfy Channel series, Destination Truth, where each week, he and his fearless team investigated age-old mysteries, recent paranormal reports and cryptozoological sightings. Gates also hosted the immensely popular Ghost Hunters television series, exploring haunted sites around the globe. His 2011 bestselling book, “Memoirs of a Monster Hunter,” reveals the inside scoop on more of his wild excursions, which have resulted in appearances on The Today Show, CNN and a variety of other national television and radio programs. The Great Vacations Travel EXPO, presented by AAA, opens Friday, Feb. 3 and runs through Sunday, Feb. 5, at the Greater Columbus Convention Center in Downtown Columbus.
