ΑΠΟΣΤΟΛΟΣ THE Β’ Κορινθίους δ’ 6-15 2 Corinthians 4:6-15

Ἀδελφοί, ὁ Θεὸς ὁ εἰπών, ἐκ σκότους φῶς λάμψαι͵ Brethren, it is the God who said, "Let light shine ὃ ἔλαμψεν ἐν ταῖς καρδίαις ἡμῶν πρὸς φωτισμὸν out of darkness," who has shone in our hearts to τῆς γνώσεως τῆς δόξης τοῦ Θεοῦ ἐν προσώπῳ give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God Χριστοῦ. Ἔχομεν δὲ τὸν θησαυρὸν τοῦτον ἐν in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in ὀστρακίνοις σκεύεσιν͵ ἵνα ἡ ὑπερβολὴ τῆς earthen vessels, to show that the transcendent δυνάμεως ᾖ τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ μὴ ἐξ ἡμῶν· ἐν παντὶ power belongs to God and not to us. We are θλιβόμενοι ἀλλ' οὐ στενοχωρούμενοι͵ afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, ἀπορούμενοι ἀλλ' οὐκ ἐξαπορούμενοι͵ διωκόμενοι but not driven to despair; persecuted, but not ἀλλ' οὐκ ἐγκαταλειπόμενοι͵ καταβαλλόμενοι ἀλλ' forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; always οὐκ ἀπολλύμενοι͵ πάντοτε τὴν νέκρωσιν τοῦ Ἰησοῦ carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the ἐν τῷ σώματι περιφέροντες͵ ἵνα καὶ ἡ ζωὴ τοῦ life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. Ἰησοῦ ἐν τῷ σώματι ἡμῶν φανερωθῇ. Ἀεὶ γὰρ For while we live we are always being given up to ἡμεῖς οἱ ζῶντες εἰς θάνατον παραδιδόμεθα διὰ death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus may Ἰησοῦν͵ ἵνα καὶ ἡ ζωὴ τοῦ Ἰησοῦ φανερωθῇ ἐν τῇ be manifested in our mortal flesh. So death is at θνητῇ σαρκὶ ἡμῶν. Ὥστε ὁ θάνατος ἐν ἡμῖν work in us, but life in you. Since we have the same ἐνεργεῖται͵ ἡ δὲ ζωὴ ἐν ὑμῖν. Ἔχοντες δὲ τὸ αὐτὸ spirit of faith as he had who wrote, "I believed, and πνεῦμα τῆς πίστεως͵ κατὰ τὸ γεγραμμένον͵ so I spoke," we too believed, and so we speak, Ἐπίστευσα͵ διὸ ἐλάλησα͵ καὶ ἡμεῖς πιστεύομεν͵ διὸ knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will καὶ λαλοῦμεν͵ εἰδότες ὅτι ὁ ἐγείρας τὸν Κύριον raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into Ἰησοῦν καὶ ἡμᾶς σὺν Ἰησοῦ ἐγερεῖ καὶ παραστήσει His presence. For it is all for your sake, so that as σὺν ὑμῖν. Τὰ γὰρ πάντα δι' ὑμᾶς͵ ἵνα ἡ χάρις grace extends to more and more people it may πλεονάσασα διὰ τῶν πλειόνων τὴν εὐχαριστίαν increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God. περισσεύσῃ εἰς τὴν δόξαν τοῦ Θεοῦ.

ΤΟ ΕΥΑΓΓΕΛΙΟΝ THE GOSPEL Λουκάν Ϛʹ 31-36 Luke 6:31-36 Εἶπεν ὁ Κύριος· Καθὼς θέλετε ἵνα ποιῶσιν ὑμῖν οἱ The Lord said, "And as you wish that men would do ἄνθρωποι, καὶ ὑμεῖς ποιεῖτε αὐτοῖς ὁμοίως. καὶ εἰ to you, do so to them. If you love those who love ἀγαπᾶτε τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας ὑμᾶς, ποία ὑμῖν χάρις you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners ἐστί; καὶ γὰρ οἱ ἁμαρτωλοὶ τοὺς ἀγαπῶντας love those who love them. And if you do good to αὐτοὺς ἀγαπῶσι. καὶ ἐὰν ἀγαθοποιῆτε τοὺς those who do good to you, what credit is that to ἀγαθοποιοῦντας ὑμᾶς, ποία ὑμῖν χάρις ἐστί; καὶ you? For even sinners do the same. Even sinners lend to sinners, χάρις ἐστί; καὶ γὰρ ἁμαρτωλοὶ ἁμαρτωλοῖς to receive as much again. Saint Evdokimos, pray for us!

“Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for to such is the Kingdom of Heaven.” Mark 10:14 A Ministry of the Sunday, October 3, 2021 Volume 9, Issue 40 Orthodox Christian Network God never forgets us! Have your parents ever for- gotten to pick you up from some- thing? Or maybe they were just a little late? Maybe you started to wonder if they would ever come. In today’s epistle, Saint Paul writes about how hard it is to be a Christian! He tells how the Christians are hurt, confused, and struck down. In other places, Saint Paul writes how he was beaten up, he was shipwrecked, people even threw stones at him and put him in prison, he was hungry and hurt. Things weren’t easy for Saint Paul as he preached about our Lord, Jesus Christ!

Saint Paul tells us today, “we are persecuted, but not forsaken.” People hurt the apostles, and lots of times, it was just because they were Chris- tians! But still, the were “not forsaken.” Saint Paul knew that God hadn’t forsaken them. God hadn’t forgotten about them! Always remember, God never forgets about us! Our problems aren’t even close to the problems Saint Paul had, but remember what he said. Even if people make fun of you for praying or fasting or being a Christian. Even if things are hard to stick up for what’s right. God never forgets about us. He The Children’s Word is a weekly bulletin for Orthodox Christian young people.
