MEMPHIS REDBIRDS (AAA) Record: 13‐24, 3rd Pacific Coast League, American North Division Memphis was shutout by Colorado Springs (Rockies) 3‐0. Brian Broderick (1‐5) received the loss despite contributing a quality start allowing three runs (1 ER) on seven hits over six innings. Broderick also led the offense going 2‐for‐2 with a double raising his 2012 PLAYERS OF THE MONTH batting average to .250 on the season. The Redbirds committed four errors on defense. Sam Freeman (1‐3) took the loss allowing the run in the 8th inning. Scott Gorgen made the start July and lasted only 1.2 innings allowing four runs on four hits with two walks and three strikeouts. The Kernels scored two runs in the first inning off River Bandits starting pitcher Tyrelly Jenkins (1‐2) and it held up the rest of the game. Jenkins surrendered the two runs, walked two, struck out two and uncorked two wild pitches in the 1st inning then threw five scoreless innings allowing just three hits with two walks and struck out four more batters for a quality start. Colin Walsh was 1‐for‐2 with a double and two walks while Juan Castillo knocked in the Bandits lone run.
