    Single Jurisdiction in Northern Ireland. Background The Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service public consultation "Redrawing the Map: A Consultation on Court Boundaries in Northern Ireland” contained proposals to replace the current rigid statutory framework of court boundaries for County Courts and magistrates’ courts with a single jurisdiction within Northern Ireland underpinned by more flexible administrative arrangements. Stakeholders broadly welcomed the proposals. Single Jurisdiction reforms will be implemented on 31 October 2016. The legislation to give effect to the single jurisdiction is contained in Part 1 of the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2015. Under the new arrangements, the jurisdiction of county courts and magistrates courts will no longer be determined by reference to County Court Divisions and Petty Sessions Districts. Instead these courts will exercise jurisdiction throughout Northern Ireland, similar to the way in which the Crown Court already operates. New Administrative Court Divisions The existing divisional structure will simultaneously be replaced with three new Administrative Court Divisions (ACDs). These Divisions will not define jurisdiction but rather will determine the area in which court business will ‘usually’ be heard. The three ACDs are:- North Eastern Division South Eastern Division Western Division. A map illustrating the geographical make-up of these Divisions has been attached at Annex A. Page 1 of 20 Although the legislation provides that different ACDs may be created for different types of court business (e.g. police or Public Prosecution Service boundaries for criminal business; Health Trust boundaries for family business) there will in the first instance be one single configuration of ACDs based on combinations of the eleven Local Government Districts for Northern Ireland.

    Club Model: Case Study of Good Practice Ballynahinch RFC Model Club section: Area of good practice: Workforce Development/Community Volunteer Development/Sport in the Engagement Community Club Model: Case Study of Good Practice Overview Ballynahinch RFC have been continuously involved in the Sport Uniting Communities programme. Following on from their club members attending a Volunteer Development Day the club has benefitted from various initiatives both on and off the pitch. The intended outcomes from their involvement in a cross- community volunteer development programme were: • To increase knowledge around recruitment, retention and reward of club volunteers • To create close links with other local sports clubs from Gaelic and Football backgrounds • To get the opportunity to learn how other sports manage volunteers • To avail of any future opportunities for club members and volunteers to be involved with the programme The steps Ballynahinch have taken for this to be a success and the positive impacts are highlighted across the next few slides. Club Model: Case Study of Good Practice What was delivered? In Year 1 (2018) of the Programme Ballynahinch attended the Volunteer Development Day in Banbridge and in Year 3 (2020) they attended an Online Volunteer Development Presentation with clubs from GAA and Football. They had planned to send a number of volunteers and committee members to a Volunteer Development event which had to be cancelled due to the pandemic. As a result of their attendance at our VDP events Ballynahinch have also been involved in other aspects of the programme. Their young members have been involved in our Game of 3 Halves events, valued volunteer club members have been on Stadium tours of Kingspan Stadium, The National Football Stadium at Windsor Park and Croke Park, young volunteers have been accredited through our GoldMark scheme and the club were awarded a sports equipment pack due to their prolonged, sustained involvement within the Sports Uniting Communities Prog ramme.

Ove Arup and Partners (Arup) was appointed as the consultancy team to facilitate the delivery of the Village Renewal Plan for Annacloy and Teconnaught. This Village Renewal Plan has been facilitated by a stakeholder workshop. The outcome of this is a Village Renewal Plan which includes a range of projects and initiatives that we believe will have a real impact on the area. The Village Renewal Plan was funded under Priority 6 (LEADER) of the Northern Ireland Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 by the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs and the European Union, and Newry, Mourne and Down District Council. The Rural Development Programme uses the LEADER approach which adopts a community led model to assist rural communities to improve the quality of life and economic prosperity in their local area, through the allocation of funds based on local need. Village Renewal and Development is an important element of the Rural01 Development Programme. The Village Plan is a working document that requires the support of the community and in many cases the community working in partnership with other agencies and statutory bodies.

As expected Downpatrick and Newry DEA’s have the shortest distance to their nearest bus stop on average. The table below breaks this down further into wards and we can see that Newtownhamilton has the longest distance to their nearest bus stop on average followed by Crossmaglen. Cathedral and Ballybot have the shortest distance on average to the nearest bus stop. The capital investment of the overall project is upwards of £58 million and is estimated to make gas available to circa 28,000 domestic and commercial properties. 2 m Gas to East Down Background to Phoenix Natural Gas Phoenix Natural Gas is the largest 60% natural gas distribution company in Northern Ireland. Phoenix is responsible for the development of the pipeline network and additional services to suppliers, which facilitates the supply of natural gas to homes and businesses. Natural Gas Oil Solid Fuel, Economy 7 and other The Phoenix network currently extends to around 3500 km of intermediate, medium and low pressure mains, which distribute KEY FACTS natural gas throughout the licence Network – Approx. 3500km area. Phoenix’s licence covers Gas Available to – 300,000+ properties around 50% of the population of Gas Coverage – Over 90% Northern Ireland, where Phoenix Connections – Approx. 200,000 has operated for 20 years. Api-Bioxal® was used in the Apiary and supplied to the DBKA members that required it. This is the only oxalic acid product licenced by the Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) in the UK from 2015. Phil McAnespie has confirmed that he will be the speaker for February. The topic of the talk has yet to be decided. Sandra Pinion mentioned that she is writing a risk assessment for the Apiary. Monthly Meeting Programme Jan – Nov 2016 Jan (19th): Cathryn Cochrane “Creating Wildflower Meadows and the Benefits to Pollinators”. Feb (23rd): Phil McAnespie Title of the topic to be confirmed. It was suggested that the topic should be about how to prepare the bees for the spring and summer. Sandra Pinion suggested giving a gift as well as expenses. NOTE: THIS MEETING WILL BE HELD ON TUESDAY, 23RD FEBRUARY. March (15th): Jesús Borobia “Beeswax”. April (19th): John McMullan Patrick Lundy suggested a talk regarding Foulbrood (AFB/EFB). May (17th): Jesús Borobia suggested Jonathan Getty (Belfast Beekeepers’ Association). He could give a talk about queen rearing and his experience with the Belfast Beekeepers’ Breeding Group. Patrick Lundy will contact him. Jun (21st) BBQ in the Apiary. The Secretary will send a letter to the preliminary and intermediate students inviting them to the BBQ.
