SUSAN (discussing Jack from the fairytale “Jack and the Beanstalk”) First off, Jack was a thief, a boy who broke in to someone's home and took things that didn’t belong to him. Secondly, I agree with my mother-- it’s just a fairy tale and fairy tales are silly nonsense.

KRIS (to DORIS after being re-hired as the Macy’s ) You see, Mrs. Walker, for fifty years or so I’ve been mre and more worried about . Christmas is not just a thing, it’s a frame of mind. And that’s what they’ve been changing. Well I’m glad you’re taking me back--maybe I can do something about it. And I’m glad I met you and your daughter. You’re my test case!

DORIS (to FRED regarding his decision to quit his job and continue legally defending KRIS KRINGLE) Oh, darling, listen. We’ve hardly been apart since Thanksgiving. I-- Well, I've become incredibly fond of you. We’ve talked about some wonderful plans for the future, haven’t we? And then you do this--go on an idealistic binge, throw away your security, and expect me to be happy about it? I think I have the right to ask you to be a little bit more practical and realistic.
