During the Covid-19 crisis, please use the following guide if you are davening without a Minyan.

Friday December 4th • Regular weekday Davening with at Shacharit. • No Tachanun at Mincha. • Candles should be lit by 4:26 PM and Mincha by 4:35 PM. • Shkiah is at 4:44 PM. • After the Maariv Amida recite Vayechulu but not Magen Avot and Elokeinu V’Elokei Avotenu. They are only said when davening with a permanent Minyan. It is customary to recite Vayechulu together with either another male or female.

Shabbat December 5th – Parashat Vayishlach • Shacharit is a regular Shabbat Shacharit. • Do not say . This is only recited when davening with a Minyan. • Recite the for Shabbat. • The from a Chumash is Vayishlach. The Haftorah is from Ovadiah. • Skip both chapters of Y’kum Purkan and the Mi Sheberach. They are only said when davening with a Minyan. • Recite the Mi Sheberach for the IDF and the Tefilah for Medinat Yisrael. • Recite Av HaRachamim and . • Mincha can be said as early as 12:14 PM but no later than 4:25 PM. • During Mincha recite the sentence Va’Ani Tefilati right after U’va L’Tziyon. • Recite Tzedek at Mincha. • Maariv is the regular weekday Maariv. • Recite V’he Noam and V’yeeten Lecha. • In the Maariv Amida begin reciting V’ten Tal Umatar Livracha. • Shabbat ends 5:29 PM. • Say a complete Havdalah.

Sunday December 6th - Thursday December 11th • Regular weekday Davening with Tachanun at Shacharit and Mincha. • On Monday and Thursday recite the longer version of Tachanun just like we do if we had a Minyan and were reading the Torah. • Rabbi Soloveitchik Z”L was of the opinion that when saying Tachanun even when a Sefer Torah isn’t present, one should still fall on one’s arm and recite the opening chapter just like the way we do when davening inside a Shul. • On Thursday at Mincha do not say Tachanun because it is Erev Chanukah. • Include in the Maariv Amida Al HaNissim for Chanukah. • On Thursday after Maariv the Menorah is lit. Recite all three Brakhot including Shehecheyanu.

Friday December 11th – First day of Chanukah • Include in the Amida Al HaNissim for Chanukah. • Recite a full . • Lamenatzeach and Tachanun are not said throughout Chanukah. • At the conclusion of Shacharit recite Mizmor Shir Chanukat HaBayit L’David. • Before lighting Shabbat candles light the Menorah. Light two Chanukah candles on Friday afternoon. Make sure the Chanukah candles will burn for at least 80 minutes on Friday night. • Shabbat Candles should be lit by 4:27 PM and Mincha by 4:35 PM. • Shkiah is at 4:45 PM. • Remember to include Al HaNissim in the Mincha and Maariv Amida.

Friday December 4th • No Tachanun at Mincha. Mincha is at 4:35 PM. • Candle lighting is at 4:26 PM. Shkiah is at 4:44 PM. • A full Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv should be recited. • In Shul at Maariv recite Vayechulu, Magen Avot and Elokeinu V’Elokei Avotenu. • If you are davening Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv at a satellite Minyan, then only say Vayechulu but not Magen Avot and Elokeinu V’Elokei Avotenu.

Shabbat December 5th – Parashat Vayishlach • Shacharit is a regular Shabbat Shacharit. • Say Anim Zemirot and Shir Shel Yom for Shabbat, followed by the Tefilot for taking out the Sefer Torah. • The Torah reading is Vayishlach. • Seven Aliyot will be distributed plus Maftir. Chatzi should be said by the Ba’al Kriah before the Maftir is called up for his Aliyah. • One person, besides the Ba’al Kriah, will do both Hagbah and Gelilah. After lifting the Torah for Hagbah place the Torah on the Shulchan and perform Gelilah while the Torah is on the Shulchan. • The Haftorah is from Ovadiah. • Recite the Tefilah for the American Government, Mi Sheberach for the IDF and the Tefilah for Medinat Yisrael. • Say the two chapters of Y’kum Purkan and the Mi Sheberach. • Recite Av HaRachamim and Ashrei. • Mincha is a regular Shabbat afternoon Mincha. Mincha is at 4:20 PM at Shul. • Three Aliyot are distributed. • One person, besides the Ba’al Kriah, will do both Hagbah and Gelilah. After lifting the Torah for Hagbah place the Torah on the Shulchan and perform Gelilah while the Torah is on the Shulchan. • Kel Maleh prayers for the Yahrzeits are recited at Mincha. • Recite Tzidkatcha Tzedek. • Maariv is the regular weekday Maariv. Maariv begins at 5:19 PM. • Shabbat ends 5:29 PM. • In the Maariv Amida begin reciting V’ten Tal Umatar Livracha. • Recite V’he Noam and V’yeeten Lecha followed by Aleynu. • A complete Havdalah is recited at home.

Sunday December 6th – Thursday December 10th • Recite regular Shacharit and Mincha with Tachanun. • Only the Chazan should open and close the Aron when taking out and returning the Torah. • Three Aliyot should be distributed on Monday and Thursday. • Mi Sheberach for Cholim should be recited before Hagbah and Gelilah. • One person, besides the Ba’al Kriah, will do both Hagbah and Gelilah. After lifting the Torah for Hagbah put the Torah on the Shulchan and perform Gelilah. • On Thursday at Mincha do not say Tachanun because it is Erev Chanukah. • On Thursday after Mincha the Menorah is lit in Shul. The Menorah is positioned on the south side and lit from east to west, with the person lighting having his back facing south. Recite all three Brakhot including Shehecheyanu. • Include in the Maariv Amida Al HaNissim for Chanukah.

Friday December 11th – First Day of Chanukah • Include in every Amida Al HaNissim for Chanukah. • Recite a full Hallel. • After Hallel a Hatzi Kaddish is recited by the Chazan. • The Torah is read from Chumash Bamidbar, Parashat Naso chapter 7. Three Aliyot are distributed. • Lamenatzeach and Tachanun are not said throughout Chanukah. • At the conclusion of Shacharit recite Shir Shel Yom for Friday but the mourners do not say Kaddish. Recite Mizmor Shir Chanukat HaBayit L’David and then the mourners recite Kaddish. • Before coming to Shul light your Menorah. The Menoarh should be lit before Shabbat candles. Shabbat Candles should be lit by 4:27 PM and Mincha by 4:30 PM. The Chanukah candles should last for at least 80 minutes. • Right after Mincha in Shul the Menorah is lit with the Brakhot, but without singing Maoz Tzur. Maoz Tzur is sung before Bameh Madlikin. • Shkiah is at 4:45 PM. • Remember to include Al HaNissim in the Mincha and Maariv Amida. • In Shul at Maariv recite Vayechulu, Magen Avot and Elokeinu V’Elokei Avotenu. • If you are davening Kabbalat Shabbat and Maariv at a satellite Minyan, then only say Vayechulu but not Magen Avot and Elokeinu V’Elokei Avotenu.
