COOPERATIVES ALL OVER THE COUNTRY GOING THE EXTRA MILE TO SERVE THEIR MEMBERS AND COMMUNITIES AMIDST COVID-19 PANDEMIC: REPORTS FROM REGION 3 #CoopsAgainstCOVID19

To complement the government in its efforts to support families affected by the crisis, cooperatives continuously provide assistance to their members, non- members, community and frontliners, either in cash or in kind. Some cooperatives even continue to operate despite the risks involved just to be able to support the supply chain and provide essential services to their members and communities.

San Juan Pambilog Multipurpose Cooperative in San Luis, , distributed milled rice to 50 members and 50 non-members of San Juan, San Luis, amounting to Php58,457.00 charged to its Community Development Fund.

Yokohama Tire Phils., Inc. Employees Multipurpose Cooperative in Angeles City, Pampanga, provided alcohol and face masks to 806 members. It also donated grocery items to the frontliners of JBL Memorial and Research Hospital at the City of San Fernando and Ospital Ng Angeles amounting to P162,170.00, charged to its Community Development Fund. Calibutbut Multipurpose Cooperative in , Pampanga, donated 5 50-kilo sacks of rice to the Municipal Police Station of Bacolor, 7 sacks to Barangay Bulaon, 6 sacks to Northville, Calulut and 6 sacks to Madapdap, Pampanga, amounting to Php40,000.00, charged to its Community Development Fund.

Mabalacat Clark Drivers and Operators Transport Cooperative in City, Pampanga, distributed 25-kilo sacks of rice to each of its 110 members, amounting to P110,000.00. The following cooperatives in donated cash from its Community Development Fund to the Provincial Government of Bataan, in response to its call for Covid 19 Donation Drive: • Maligaya Wet Market Multipurpose Cooperative - Php10,000.00 • Merchant Multipurpose Cooperative - Php1,000.00 • Limay Agri Business MPC - Php2,000.00 • Limay Multipurpose Cooperative - Php2,000.00 Other assistance extended by the cooperatives to their members, employees, non- members, communities and frontliners are as follows: • P. Roman Memorial High School Multipurpose Cooperative in Pilar, Bataan, donated 480 pieces of bottled water to Pilar Frontliners, amounting to Php3,360.00 charged to its Community Development Fund.

City Supermarket Vendors Multipurpose Cooperative Credit Services distributed food packs to PJGMRMC Hospital frontliners and gave each member Php1,000.00 cash assistance.

• Nag-iisang Masikap Primary Multipurpose Cooperative in General Mamerto Natividad, , offered to its members an Agriculture Supply/Crop Production Loan. The cooperative also distributed food packs to 30 frontliners amounting to Php15,000.00, charged to its Community Development Fund, and gave grocery packs to its 250 members, charged to its Optional Fund, amounting to Php750,000.00.

Secondary Teachers and Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (GASTECO) in Nueva Ecija, provided financial assistance to members during the period of ECQ. It also opened its business in order to sell rice, LPG and other essential goods to members.

• Samahan ng Istilong Pinoy Credit Cooperative Gapan, in Nueva Ecija, provided grocery packs and rice to 20 active members amounting to Php5000.00, charged to its Optional Fund.

• Gintong Biyaya Multipurpose Cooperative in , Nueva Ecija, provided grocery packs and rice to its 55 members, amounting to Php20,000.00.

• JBLGMH Employees Multipurpose Cooperative in the City of San Fernando, Pampanga, gave cash assistance to its 450 members and 300 canteen, janitorial and security services personnel, totaling Php600,000.00, charged to its Community Development Fund.

Multipurpose Cooperative in , assisted the LGU in the conduct of community services.

• Masinloc Public Elementary School Teachers Multipurpose Cooperative (MPEST-MPC) in Zambales, offered moratorium for two (2) months in the collection of loans.

• Pinagkaisang Samahang Magsasaka/Mangingisda Multipurpose Cooperative, in Masinloc, Zambales, conducted a feeding program to 100 families in the community worth Php3,000.00 and distributed food packs worth Php200.00/ pack to 15 families. The cooperative also offered to members a moratorium for two (2) months in the collection of loans without interest. The following cooperatives in Zambales offered a 2-month loan payment moratorium to its members: • Technological University Multipurpose Cooperative • Zambales Agriculture Employees Multi-Purpose Cooperative • Zambales National High School Multipurpose Cooperative • San Felipe Credit and Development Cooperative • PMMA Employees Multipurpose Cooperative (PMMA-EMPC)

National High School Teachers Multipurpose Cooperative in Zambales, provided credit services to its members with two-month moratorium in loan payment without interest. It also distributed food packs worth P200.00 per pack to its 41 members.

Government Employees Development Cooperative in Zambales, provided moratorium for two months in the collection of loans. It also gave financial assistance to indigent relatives of cooperative members.

• Sulong Tulong - Tulong Multipurpose Cooperative in City, provided cash assistance to 39 members amounting to Php1,000.00 per member, charged to its Optional Fund. It also distributed to members their Interest on Share Capital and Patronage Refund.

• Lote Multipurpose Cooperative in , provided Php600.00 cash assistance to its 30 members, charged to its Optional Fund. It also distributed the members’ Interest on Share Capital and Patronage Refund.

• Don Pepe Cojuangco Homes MPC in Tarlac City, provided cash assistance to its 32 members at Php2,800.00 each, charged to its Optional Fund. It also distributed Interest on Share Capital and Patronage Refund to its members.

• Amucao Seed Growers Agro-Industrial Cooperative in Tarlac City, donated 40 food packs containing 5 kilos of rice, 1 whole chicken, 1 dozen eggs, bread, milk, coffee and sugar and Php7,000 cash in Barangay San Manuel. 30 cooperative members and 250 non-members benefited from the donations. The cooperative also distributed the Interest on Share Capital and Patronage Refund to its members.

• CAT Employees Credit Cooperative in Tarlac City, provided 1 sack of rice (25 kilos) to its 247 members worth Php247,000.00, charged to its Optional Fund. It also offered Php2,000 emergency loan to members with no interest.

• Caut Farmers Field School Marketing Cooperative in La Paz, Tarlac, distributed food packs to frontliners (PNP Personnel and Brgy. Officials) at Brgy. Bantug and Brgy. Caut checkpoints worth Php5,000.00, charged to its Optional Fund. It also distributed to its 138 members 50% of the Interest on Share Capital and Patronage Refund in the amount of Php400,000.00.

• Cooperative Bank of Zambales in Iba, Zambales, provided cash assistance amounting to P6,000.00 to each of its 38 active primary members.

• Sapang Palay Transport Service and Multipurpose Cooperative in , , distributed financial assistance of Php1000.00 to each of its 300 members and employees, charged to its Community Development Fund.

As businesses and other organizations prepare to gradually open during the region's transition from being under the Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) to a General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status, cooperative activities and initiatives supporting the COVID-19 response remain alive. This transition to the "new normal" and the limited movement of people did not stop Region 3 cooperatives from serving their communities while still practicing health and safety protocols to prevent the further spread of the virus. From May 27 to June 2, 2020, 17 cooperatives were reported to have extended support to its members, communities, and frontliners. Likewise, 29 cooperatives which were included in previous reports rendered continuous service to its members and other clients without compromising their workers' safety by adopting alternative work arrangements and modified schedule of operations.

Bulusukan Farmers Palay and Vegetable Producers Cooperative in San Ildefonso, Bulacan distributed 30 food packs to 30 members, amounting to P7,000 from their Community Development Fund (CDF). They also distributed P5,000 cash allowance given by the Department of Agriculture (DA) to 10 members of the cooperative who are eligible for such allowance.

Tabing-Ilog Rural Waterworks Cooperative and Allied Services in , Bulacan, distributed 3 kilos of rice as relief to 50 members of the cooperative. The coop utilized a total amount of P8,000 charged to its Community Development Fund (CDF) for this activity.

Masaganang Buhay Primary Multipurpose Cooperative in Zaragosa, Neva Ecija handed out Php1,000.00 as cash relief assistance to 151 members charged to its Optional Fund.

San Mariano Primary Multipurpose Cooperative in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija, distributed grocery items to 44 members and donated 30 cavans of 50 kilos rice to the Local Government Unit of San Antonio, Nueva Ecija and 14 cavans of 25 kilos rice to LGU-Barangay San Mariano amounting to Php54,000.00 charged to its Cooperative Social Fund.

Sunshine Agricultural Credit Cooperative in , Nueva Ecija distributed grocery items to 84 members amounting to Php21,000.00 charged to its Optional Fund.

Pinagbuklod na Adhika Agriculture Cooperative in Zaragosa, Nueva Ecija distributed grocery items to 61 members and 20 residence of Barangay Macarse amounting to Php30,705.00 charged to its Optional Fund.

Sta. Lucia Old Potable Water Service Cooperative in Zaragosa, Nueva Ecija distributed grocery items to 210 members amounting to Php25,000.00 charged to its Optional Fund

Panabingan Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative in San Antonio, Nueva Ecija distributed grocery items to 510 residences of Brgy. Panabingan and provided meal packs to frontliners amounting to P105,000.00 charged to it Community Development

Fund.

Hardinero Agriculture Cooperative in Tarlac distributed 3rd wave of relief packs containing 2 kilos of mango and 2 kilos of rice to 200 members, selected non-members and frontliners amounting to Php23,450.00 charged to its Community Development Fund.

Sa Nayon Multipurpose Cooperative in City, Bulacan distributed 25 kilos of rice relief to 54 staffs and officers of the cooperative. For this activity, the coop utilized a total amount of P54,000 charged to its Community Development Fund (CDF).

• Lingap - Kapwa Multipurpose Cooperative in Pilar, Bataan distributed food packs to 210 frontliners of Pilar, Bataan and packs of rice and fruits to 90 coops members amounting a total of Php48,290.00 charged to its Community Development Fund.

• Roosevelt Water Service and Sanitation Cooperative in , Bataan distributed 10 cavans of rice to Brgy. Roosevelt, Dinalupihan, Bataan amounting to Php20,000.00 charged to its CDF.

• Sulong San Nicolas Farmers Marketing in Arayat, Pampanga distributed frozen goods to 30 members and 50 non-members in the community amounting to Php12,000.00

• Binhi ni Abraham Producers Cooperative in Concepcion, Tarlac distributed to members a grocery pack containing rice, canned goods and noodles and gave free vegetable seeds such as eggplant, okra and ampalaya. The coop also provided the frontliners with breakfast food packs (coffee, sugar, milk and bread).

• Ginintuang Butil Marketing Cooperative in Concepcion, Tarlac distributed grocery packs containing rice, canned goods and noodles to its 40 member and food packs of coffee, sugar, milk, and fresh eggs to 25 frontliners (PNP personnel, Brgy. Tanod and Hospital Staff).

• Tarlac Provincial Seed Growers Multipurpose Cooperative in Tarlac City delivered to the recipients a 230 bags thru the Rise Resilient Program and 700 bags of certified seeds RCEP.

• Casiguran District Hospital Employees and Community Multipurpose Cooperative in conducted a house to house distribution of Interest on Share Capital & Patronage Refund to 114 members amounting to P 87,872.49.
