(Saturday, June 30, 2012) – Sam Hornish Jr. continued his string of rock-solid finishes in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. He finished sixth in Friday night’s Feed the Children 300 at Kentucky Speedway. The driver of the No. 12 Wurth Dodge Challenger posted his eighth top-10 finish and third consecutive. He remains fourth in the series championship standings, 33 points behind leader Austin Dillon. “That’s the thing that you’ve got to do; you’ve got to be consistent,” Hornish said. “We need to keep being smart and doing the things that we’re doing. We’re chipping away at it. We’d love to do it all in about two races and be leading the points but it’s not going to happen that way. We just need to be smart about what we do.” Brad Keselowski overcame the loss of track position early in the race to finish seventh, his eighth top-10 finish in 11 starts this season. Keselowski was running third when he pitted during the first caution of the race on lap 26. The crew had an issue with the right-front during the stop plus receiving a penalty for pitting outside the pit box and a tire violation. Keselowski restarted 29th but was able to work his way back onto the top five by lap 130.

    After a successful two-day event over the weekend, The Second Annual Justin Lofton Charity Golf Tournament presented by CollegeCmplete.com, accomplished the goal of surpassing last year’s inaugural event. Hosted by NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) driver Justin Lofton, the golf tournament had over 100 golfers, a supportive list of sponsors, and an impressive turnout for the Saturday night auction. “The support that we got this year meant a lot. I am so glad to be able to provide more for the kids at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Imperial Valley,” Lofton said. “I can’t thank everyone enough for their involvement. Whether it was playing in the tournament, sponsoring a tee, bidding on an auction item – it all means more for those kids, and to be able to help them is a great thing.” Lofton, who is from nearby Westmorland, California, chose to host the event near his hometown so that the community could be more involved. The Boys and Girls Clubs of Imperial Valley was his charity of choice for the event, and is located just miles from the golf course. Currently, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Imperial Valley serve over 600 Imperial Valley youth, providing kids a safe, supervised, and affordable place to go every day after school. Nearly 200 kids are greeted daily by caring adult staff and participate in character-building, educational and recreational programs all while making friends and having fun. Concentrating on youth who need the most support, the Club provides programs in four key areas: health and fitness, education, the arts, and most importantly, in character development.

Tony Stewart’s dirt track in Ohio hosts NASCAR’s only national series dirt race on Wednesday, July 22, live on FOX Sports 1 at 9:00 PM ET. Beginning with practice on FOX Sports 1 at 10:30 AM ET on Wednesday, FOX Sports offers nine hours of live coverage from Eldora, the series’ 11th stop of the season, including practice, qualifying, five 10-lap qualifying races and the feature race (9:00 PM ET on FOX Sports 1). The 150-lap race is divided into three segments of 60, 50 and 40 with competition cautions at the breaks at laps 60 and 110. The inaugural Mud Summer Classic drew several Cup Series regulars and non-NASCAR dirt- track legends, and continues to attract competitors outside the Truck Series. Confirmed for Eldora are 2012 NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES champion Brad Keselowski, the first past Cup Series champion to compete at Eldora; inaugural Mud Summer Classic winner Austin Dillon; NASCAR XFINITY SERIES regular Ty Dillon; and 2013 Eldora pole sitter Ken Schrader.
