WEEKEND SUGGESTIONS Week 51 INTERNATIONAL NETWORK OF NORWAY Oslo Chamber of Commerce WEEKEND SUGGESTIONS Week 51 HI EVERYBODY! Get into the Christmas Spirit Only one week to go and the Christmas rush is on: wrapping presents, hanging decorations, baking cookies… Only the snow seems to be missing! Let us hope the weather forecast changes before the holiday so that we can enjoy a white Christmas... Have a great weekend! Photo: wikipedia.org USEFUL INFORMATION Updated Oslo app out now The redesigned Oslo - Official City App comes in six languages (Norwegian, English, German, French, Spanish and Italian), is free and is available for iOS and Android. Most of the content is available offline, which means you don’t need an internet connection to use it while in Oslo. The “What’s on” calendar lists hundreds of events every week, and now many of them have direct links to tickets for concerts, theatre performances and shows at most of Oslo’s major stages. The app now includes videos from Oslo’s attractions and events, and there are thousands of pictures showing everything from art exhibitions to plates of gourmet food. Photo: visitoslo .com The app lets you mark your favourite places and events using Facebook, Twitter, email and text message. UPCOMING EVENTS Bryan Ferry to Oslo in 2016 The always elegant Bryan Ferry has already left his mark in the history of music. He was the unquestionable leader of Roxy Music and responsible for the release of “Roxy Music”, “For your Pleasure,” “Stranded” and “Country Life”. He is regarded as pioneer in the British glam- and art-rock scene. Parallel to Roxy Music, Bryan Ferry also started a solo career that continues until today. With songs like “Let’s stick together ”, “The Price of Love” and “Kiss and Tell” he has consolidated his position as a major songwriter and singer. Bryan Ferry will perform at Oslo Konserthus Mai 1, presenting a fantastic song list that combines the best of Roxy Music and his successful solo career. There will also be songs from Ferry’s acclaimed new album “Avanmore”, described by many as his best album in 30 years. Tickets on sale here. Five centuries ago, this was the cutting-edge form of pictorial communication. What is the place of this venerable technique in our current age, with its ceaseless torrent of images on the web, on tablets and mobile phones? The exhibition seeks to surprise and excite by revealing the varied expressive potential of the woodcut medium. Here one can view everything from intricate ancient book illustrations to monumental works of recent years and woodcuts at the interface between two and three dimensions. The collaboration of young artists illustrates the contemporary relevance of the medium. Visitors will have a chance to create their own prints. The National Dialogue Quartet consists of four organizations that jointly took on the role as a mediator when Tunisia was on the brink of a civil war in 2013. The Quartet laid the grounds for free elections and the adoption of a new constitution that has been praised worldwide. On commission from the Nobel Peace Center, photographer Moises Saman has interpreted the new constitution in a photo series. The online newspaper Tunisia Live has interviewed the four heads of the organizations that make up the Quartet, and made a video documentary about their work. The exhibition also invites visitors to test their own dialogue skills. The exhibition has free admission until December 30.
