Impressions. Five centuries of woodcuts, until January 24 Woodcuts are prints made from wooden blocks. Five centuries ago, this was the cutting-edge form of pictorial communication. What is the place of this venerable technique in our current age, with its ceaseless torrent of images on the web, on tablets and mobile phones? The exhibition seeks to surprise and excite by revealing the varied expressive potential of the woodcut medium. Here one can view everything from intricate ancient book illustrations to monumental works of recent years and woodcuts at the interface between two and three dimensions. The collaboration of young artists illustrates the contemporary relevance of the medium. Visitors will have a chance to create their own prints.
