Murray Mail 38 12 OCTOBER 2018
Murray Mail 38 12 OCTOBER 2018 Highlights of the past week in the electorate have been: Attending Leeton Show on Saturday – what a terrific country show this is! Working on the citrus sculptures on Sunday – this is wonderful community event. Turning the first sod for the start of construction of the new automated flood gates at the East Mirrool Regulator at Yenda. The NSW Government, Griffith City Council and the Federal Government each contributed $1.2 million for this important project (see photo below). Attending the John Monash Dinner in Jerilderie, with the oration provided by Minister for Veterans Affairs David Elliott. Congratuatlions to Zac Barlow on winning the Sir John Monash Education Bursary with a great essay. Joining the Minister in presenting funding to Rankins Springs Memorial Hall and Whitton Memorial Park sub committees (see story below). Presenting a Q&A session (by skype) at the Balranald Shire Council Business and Community Forum. Meeting with the CEO of Cummeragunja Local Aboriginal Land Council, Darren Atkinson. Tomorrow I look forward to attending the 10th annual Multicultural Festival of Griffith, which is part of Griffith’s Spring Fest. There’s a number of great events on over the weekend including the Spring Fest and Leeton’s Grill and Chill. Sunday marks the momentous milestone of one year in office. It has been an incredibly busy and rewarding 12 months. I feel very proud of what we’ve achieved in Murray during the past year and look forward to many more good news stories in the near future. No doubt there will be challenges along the way, but I am confident that we can solve these issues and continue to ensure that Murray goes from strength to strength. -
