WBCA Announces Board of Directors Election Results

ATLANTA, Ga. (June 21, 2004) -- The Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced its election results, which places three new additions to its Board of Directors and one re-election.

Newly elected members include Monmouth University head coach Jackie DeVane, who will serve as the Black Coaches Association (BCA) representative; Fairfield University head coach Dianne Nolan will serve as Treasurer; and Gie Parsons, head coach at Clarion University was elected as the NCAA Division II - Group I Representative.

Elected for a consecutive three-year term is University of Virginia head coach, Debbie Ryan, returning as the NCAA Division I - East Representative.

As an elected member to the WBCA Board of Directors, each representative will serve a three-year term, which will end in 2007.

"We are extremely pleased to have these individuals serve on our Board of Directors, "said Wendy Larry, WBCA President and head coach at Old Dominion University. "With these additions and the return of Coach Ryan, the Board will gain further insight and continue to be a fervent voice for the WBCA membership and the sport of women's basketball."

The WBCA Board of Directors manages all business and affairs of the association. To be eligible for election to the Board of Directors, candidates shall be at least twenty- one (21) years of age and shall have maintained at least two consecutive years of Active membership (Associate Membership for high school coaches) in the WBCA, and at the time of their nomination or appointment to the Board of Directors, shall be Active (Associate) members in good standing; and who shall remain in good standing on the date of election and through their term on the Board of Directors.
