2019 VERMONT BREWERS FESTIVAL BURLINGTON

A Letter from the VBA President Avery Schwenk

On behalf of the Vermont Brewers Association, welcome to the 27th annual Vermont Brewers Festival!

This weekend has been the highlight of the festival season for as long as I have had the privilege to be a brewer in Vermont. The Vermont Brewers Festival even pre-dates the Association that it now supports. It brings together the best brewers (and ) in the industry on one of the most picturesque parks in the state to showcase our passion to you. It was one of, if not the, first events of it’s kind in the country and it has set the standard for similar festivals, in this state and others for nearly three decades. It is my goal to see us continue that trend of trailblazing and trendsetting into the future.

Over the next few years, you will start seeing changes and innovations to the Vermont Brewers Festival that sustain and grow the excitement you’ve shown for Vermont Brewers and the beer we make. I hope you are as excited about the opportunities for more education, more experimentation, more collaboration, and more varied experiences we can provide as we explore what the Vermont Brewers Festival can become. I hope you take to heart my request that you tell us your experiences and visions for our festival. We want you to share with us your ideas for what we can add, change or create anew for the festival in coming years, but also what your favorite parts are that you want to make sure we nurture and maintain in the future. Send us a note about your favorite VBF memories, your unique experiences and your creative concept for new directions to our staff at [email protected]. It’s an opportunity to play a bigger role in our beer-loving community as we forge a path forward.

There are so many people to thank for making this festival possible. First of all, thank you to our Festival and Marketing Manager, Amy Cronin. We know very well how much more smoothly planning goes with you at the helm. Thank you also to our Vermont Brewers Association Events Committee, chaired by Andrea Gagner of 14th Star Brewing, and representing 3 other as well. Thank you to Melissa Corbin, our stalwart Executive Director, who tirelessly works to move our mission forward. Thank you to our volunteers, who help this festival run smoothly, and without whom we would be utterly lost. Thank you to all the Brewers Association members for taking the time to help us represent our Association with the best Vermont has to offer. Thank you to our guest breweries from out of state and country for making the trip to our wonderful state and supporting our work with your presence. Thank you to our Allied Partners for your ongoing support of our Association and our industry as a whole. Thank you to the City of Burlington, as well as their Fire, Police, and Parks Department for making us feel at home and being wonderful hosts to this event.

And most of all, thank all of you for making this festival what it is, for showing your support of the Vermont Brewers Association and all the hard work of our staff and members. With your help, we are moving forward with our mission to promote and strengthen the culture of craft brewing in Vermont through marketing, education, and advocacy for Vermont made beer.

So, drink responsibly, explore new beers and breweries, meet some brewers, and most of all, enjoy yourselves!

Cheers! Avery Schwenk President, Vermont Brewers Association Vice-President and Brewer, Hermit Thrush Brewery

[1] Welcome & Festival Team

2019 VERMONT BREWERS FESTIVAL BURLINGTON Welcome to the 2019 Vermont Brewers Festival! Welcome to not only the 2019 Vermont Brewers Festival, but the 27th Annual Vermont Brewers Festival! For the past 27 years brewers and craft beer lovers alike have been drawn to the shores of beautiful Lake Champlain to participate in this annual tradition, a tradition that continues today. Each year, the Festival Chair points to the growing number of Vermont craft breweries, from the nano to the large packaging breweries, and this year is no different. With 60 Vermont craft breweries currently active members of the Vermont Brewers Association, the number of local beers we now have available to choose from is nothing short of astounding. These breweries are producing beer styles as varied and eclectic as the brewers themselves, and, as our numbers grow, so does our reputation for quality; making Vermont beers some of the most highly sought after in the market. Vermont isn’t the only region producing amazing beer, and as the number of Vermont breweries grows, the number of available spots in which we can offer guest breweries gets smaller. For this reason, those invited to this year’s festival were hand picked by Vermont brewers to ensure you are provided the best selection of high quality craft beer. These highly sought after breweries from our northern neighbor and neighboring states are always the highlight of our festival, for consumers and brewers alike, demonstrating the collaborative nature of our industry and the friendships we have all built over the years. We invite you to sit back, relax, sip and enjoy the artisanal offerings of our 27th Vermont Brewers Festival. Cheers! Andrea Gagner Vermont Brewers Festival Chair CEO, 14th Star Brewing Co.
