DOI:10.24394/NatSom.2001.1.423 Natura Somogyiensis 1 423-424 Kaposvár, 2001 Somogy megye fejeslegyeinek katalógusa (Diptera: Conopidae) TÓTH SÁNDOR TÓTH S.: Checklist of thick-headed flies of Somogy county (Diptera: Conopidae) Abstract: Out of the 40 thick-headed fly species recorded in Hungary, 25 taxa are proved to be found in Somogy county. The fauna of the area is poorly known. Some of the relatively rare species known from this area are Conops vesicularis Linnaeus, 1761, Dalmannia dorsalis (Fabricius, 1794), Leopoldius coronatus (Rondani, 1857), Myopa polystigma Rondani, 1857, Thecophora distincta (Meigen, 1824), Zodion notatum (Meigen, 1804). Bevezetés Magyarország fejeslegyeinek kutatottságát jónak nevezhetjük, azonban a fa unáról összefoglaló tanulmány még nem készült. A fajok száma mintegy 40-re becsülhető. A régebbi faunisztikai irodalomban nem sikerült Somogy megyére vonatkozó fejeslégy közlést találni. Csupán a területen szervezett programok keretében készült 3 dolgozat (CSIBY 1981, TÓTH 1992, 1995), továbbá a pub likálatlan adatokból összeállított kézirat (TÓTH előkészületben) tartalmaz ide vágó adatokat. Ennek figyelembe vételével, Somogy megyéből jelenleg 25 fejeslégy faj előfordulását tekinthetjük igazoltnak. A fauna kutatottságát köze pesnek mondhatjuk. A hazai fajok elterjedési és gyakorisági viszonyainak érté kelése még nem történt meg. Ezért egyelőre csak általánosságban beszélhetünk ritka fajokról. Email: [email protected]; [email protected] Abstract : A lot of attention being paid to the study of biodiversity has led to increasing interest in assessing the diversity of insects because this group dominates terrestrial and freshwater ecosystems and are valuable indicators of the healthof these ecosystems. Presence of insects in the mangrove ecosystem is of importance because they feed, reproduce on plants and help in pollination. Certain level of natural damage caused by pest insects is of ecological significance in mangrove ecosystem. Study of insect biodiversity is useful in managing the forest resources. The study area selected for this research project is a private land owned by Godrej & Boyce Mfg.Co.Ltd located along the Eastern Express Highway at Vikhroli, Mumbai. This land is covered with mangrove forest. Total eleven sites were selected randomly so as to cover maximum area of mangrove forest. At each site, during low tide, different insects were observed and photographed. Photo-essay of these insects was prepared. Diversity index, evenness index and dominance index was calculated. As per the results, Shannon index is 0.4, Simphon’s diversity index is 0.93 and evenness index is 0.1. Species richness index is 1.94. The result shows that the study location being in the industrial area of Mumbai, the insect diversity is less but there is a natural balance of damage and reproduction. -

Dazu ist allerdings zu bedenken, daß in die „Familie Conopidae" bis in die allerjüngste Zeit die Stylogastridae eingeschlossen wurden. Enderlein (1936) ver- wendet für die beiden Schwestergruppen die Namen Archischiza (mit der einzigen Familie Conopidae) und Muscaria (alle übrigen Schizophora). Seguy (1951 in Grasse) nennt sie, weniger glücklich, Conopoidea und Muscoidea. Auch Hendel (1936/37 in Kükenthal -Krumbach) und Rohdendorf (1964) vertreten die Annahme, daß zwischen den beiden Gruppen ein Schwestergruppenverhältnis besteht. Rohdendorf bringt das in seiner Stammbaumzeichnung (p. 265, Fig. 85) und Hendel mit Worten (p. 1876) zum Ausdruck: „Die sonst spezialisierten Conopiden zweigen danach vor der Gabe- lung der Schizophoren in Acalyptratae und Calyptratae ab ..." In ihren Systemen lassen beide Autoren ihre Überzeugung allerdings nicht erkennen; denn beide sind Anhänger einer typologischen Systematik: Ihre Systeme sind keine genauen Darstel- lungen der von ihnen angenommenen phylogenetischen Verwandtschaftsbeziehungen. Mit der Frage, ob die Annahme eines Schwestergruppenverhältnisses zwischen den Archischiza und den Muscaria (bzw. Conopoidea und Muscoidea im Sinne von Seguy) berechtigt ist, habe ich mich früher (1958) auseinandergesetzt mit dem auch heute noch gültigen Ergebnis, daß man „trotz der noch durchaus unzulänglichen Begründung das Bestehen eines Schwestergruppenverhältnisses zwischen den Conopidae und den ,übrigen Schizophora' doch wohl für wahrscheinlich halten" muß. -

Sustainable use, protection of animal world and forest 172 management in the context of climate change CONOPS QUADRIFASCIATUS GEER 1776 – SPECIES REGISTERED IN 2016 IN THE REPUBLIC OF MOLDOVA Asea M. Timus Institute of Zoology, Academy of Sciences of Moldova, Chişinau, e-mal: [email protected] In spring of 2016the Conops quadrifasciatus De Geer, 1776 species (Diptera, Conopidae) was recorded in the Republic of Moldova. The specimens of this spe- cies were observed in 03.IV.2016 on the plants from campus of SAUM. The species is aentomological curiosity, because imago presents phenomenon of the mimicrism and is very similar to wasps. For the first time in native literature, the species was mentions in “Animal world. Insects. 1983”: “Species widespread in the USSR, Eastern Europe and Asia Minor is “bolishegolovka 4-h polosnaia” C.quadrifasciatus”. According to the passage it goes without saying that, the species is widespread in the Republic of Moldova too. Other sources indicated that the species spreads from Europe to Siberia, and most often in Central Europe. According to the database of the Fauna Europaea, this species is re- corded in the following countries: Andorra, Austria, Belgium, Britain, Czech Repub- lic, Denmark, Finland, Switzerland, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Lithua- nia, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovakia and Sweden. For Moldova is indicated as – absent, but for neighbouring states as follows: Romania – present and Ukraine – absent. Description. The adult has 10-15 mm body length, and due to long legs has a great look insect. The dominant color is dark brown (Fig. 1). The head is large, dark brown and with long spindly antennae. -

One assault recorded and one assault of a sexual nature. No recorded incidents involving drugs. 10 alcohol related incidents of which 9 involved youth anti-social behaviour. 6 recorded incidents of house breaking. 2 recorded incidents of theft, one of which was from a motor vehicle. 4 recorded road traffic incidents, including careless driving and drink driving. Highlighted from the subsequent discussion were, the security of the Jordanhill Campus site; continuing vandalism, stone and egg throwing, drinking and general nuisance behaviour in the ‘stalled land’ between Westbrae bridge and Crow Rd, adjacent to the railway line. A stout, lockable gate was to be installed by LES and other actions taken in an effort to make the area less accessible to vandals. 3.2 The Secretary reported as a matter of concern that Police Scotland were often not represented at JCC meetings. This would be followed up at a forthcoming Victoria Park Area Partnership meeting (by Cllr Dalton and Chairperson). -

GONZÁLEZ University of Georgia, Department of Entomology, Athens, GA 30602, USA ABSTRACT Zeta argillaceum (L.), a common neotropical wasp, is established in Florida. The character- istic mud potter-like nests are easily recognized. They prey on geometrid caterpillars. Their nests are reused by various arthropods, forming an ecological web similar to that of other mud dauber wasps. Prey, inquilines, parasites, and scavengers found inside the nests are presented. Introduction Currently there are eight species and 10 subspecies of Eumenes known in America north of Mexico (Arnett 2000). Only E. fraternus Say and the nominate subspecies of E. smithii Saussure occur in Florida. These wasps make the familiar jug-like mud nests found on buildings, window sills, screens, and shrubs around the home. Members of the subfamily Eumenidae may be identified to genus with the aid of a key in Parker (1966).
