WHAT HAVE YOU DONE LATELY? MOST FIRST-HALF HR'S Edinson Volquez is very familiar with the Cardinals, having pitched for Cincinnati for four seasons (2008-11) and Pittsburgh for Marlins' History one (2014). His 17 career starts against them is surpassed only by his 19 career starts against Milwaukee. Volquez is 5-6 with (TEAM) a 4.27 ERA in those starts against St. Louis, but has not suffered a loss since April 27, 2014 here at Busch Stadium. In five starts HR'S YEAR against the Redbirds since then, Volquez has gone 2-0 with a 1.65 ERA (32.2 ip/6 er). He has allowed more than two runs just 135 2008 106 2003 once in that span, which includes the second of his four career complete games. That was on July 10, 2014 here in St. Louis, 100 2007 when he allowed just one run on six hits and two walks, with five strikeouts, in a 9-1 win for the Pirates. 97 2000 95 2001 FIRST HALF DINGERS 94 2017 Marcell Ozuna on Sunday hit his 21st and 22nd home runs of the season. That is the sixth-most home runs prior to the break in (INDIVIDUALS) Club history, six behind the all-time leader, Mike Lowell, who hit 28 in 2003. Ozuna and Giancarlo Stanton (21 homers) are the HR'S PLAYER YEAR third pair of teammates in Marlins' history to have 20 home runs before the break, joining Miguel Cabrera (20) & Mike Lowell 28 MIKE LOWELL 2003 (20) in 2004 and Hanley Ramirez (23) and Dan Uggla (23) in 2008. Miami as a team has hit 94 home runs so far this season, 27 GIANCARLO STANTON 2015 which ranks sixth in club history for the first half of a campaign. This year's squad won't be catching the all-time leader - the 25 GARY SHEFFIELD 1996 2008 club that belted 135 before the break - but it does have an outside chance of moving into the top-three. See the chart 23 HANLEY RAMIREZ 2008 at right for a full list of the club's all-time leaders in first-half home runs, by team and individual. 23 DAN UGGLA 2008 22 MARCELL OZUNA 2017 RIDDLE FIGURING IT OUT 21 CLIFF FLOYD 2001 21 GIANCARLO STANTON 2017 JT Riddle entered June 10 with a season-best .277 batting average. He went 0x3 that night, however, marking the begin- 21 GIANCARLO STANTON 2014 ning of a skid that saw him bat just .122 (6x49) over 14 games, dropping his season average to .230 through June 25. The next day was an off-day for Miami, during which the Club traded to Tampa Bay. Since the Club returned to action on June 27, Riddle has returned to form. In eight games since that date, he is batting .357 (10x28) with two doubles, three RBI, three walks, and just five strikeouts, raising his season average to .249. He has three consecutive two-hit games, the longest streak of multi-hit games of his rookie season.

HOME FOR THE ALL-STAR BREAK Miami is sending a pair of its outfielders home to Marlins Park for the All-Star Game next week, as it was announced on Sunday thatMarcell Ozuna was voted in by the fans to start for the National League squad, while Giancarlo Stanton was voted in as a reserve by the players. Ozuna is the fifth Marlins' player (seventh time) to be selected to start the All-Star Game, joining Gary Sheffield (1993), Hanley Ramírez (2008-10), Stanton (2015, DNP), and Dee Gordon (2015, DNP). Miami has had four players (six times) go on to start the game: Sheffield (1993), Ramírez (2008-10), Stanton (2014), and Ozuna (2016). Stanton has now been named an All-Star four times in his career, (2012, 2014-15, 2017) tying Miguel Cabrera (2004-07) for the most selections in Club history. Ozuna would become only the second Marlins' player to make multiple starts, joining Ramírez. - Stats LLC
