Salem BC 11.8.20 “Fruit of the – Goodness” Text: :22-23a 1. HOW can we gauge our spiritual development? By the demonstration of the progress we are making in ______the fruit of the Spirit in our daily lives. Acts 11:23-24 – “ (whose name means Son of Encouragement) was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and full of faith. When he reached and saw how God had blessed the people, he was glad. He encouraged all the believers in Antioch always to obey the Lord with all their hearts, and many people became followers of the Lord.” Galatians 5:22-23a – “…the fruit of the Spirit is , joy, , , , goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control…” 2. “Fruit” here, means ______results, the good things that come from the Spirit’s indwelling. As the Holy spirit works in our lives, our ______changes. 3. Goodness is a feature of ______living in action. It results in a life characterized by behaviors motivated by what is right and a desire to be a ______. 4. Someone who live and behaves in goodness will ______act on behalf of others. Matthew 5:16 – “….you should be a light for other people. Live so that they will send the good things you do and will praise your Father in heaven.”

5. John Wesley, father of the Methodist Church had a rule for living his life: “Do all the GOOD you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can, in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can, as long as ….. you can.”
