Message of ASAC President August - 2017 ASAC 2017-2018.- Dear Senators,

August is the month in which we are having the Encounter of JCI Senators of ASAC. The month in which we also start to get more information from the different JCI organizations and JCI National organization regarding their upcoming conventions and conferences for this year. I hope that these organizations will have good events. I congratulate them with these events during which they provide an environment to meet, develop members, strengthen friendship experience brotherhood and of course celebrate.

ASAC had its 9th Encounter in the beautiful Willemstad, Curacao. This meeting was a very important meeting of Senators, during which they had the opportunity to experience Friendship, Culture and Business. ASAC also take this event as one of the opportunities to celebrated 15 years of ASAC. Furthermore, participants had a chance to experience a well- organized Encounter with different activities.

I congratulate the President of Cursente Rudmila Smith – Paulo, Director Sheila Coffie – Whieskie and all the members of Cursenate for organizing this great event in which a maximum number of 80 senators and guests participated. I also thank them for all the hard work to offer us this great experience.

Our Senators in the different countries have also been very active this month. This can be seen in the publication of the activities. The visit of the JCI World President Dawn Hetzel to Bolivia and the activities of the different in the different countries are also highlights for this month’s edition.

With the execution of the 9th ASAC Encounter, ASAC immediately started with the promotion of the 10th ASAC Encounter. This Encounter will be held in Cartagena, from the 22 – 26 August in 2018. I invite all of you to participate in this event. I want to thank all contributors of information and news for the development of this newsletter.

August - 2017 Review of Cartagena, Bolívar, Colombia, the city sede.- Cartagena de Indias, officially the Tourist and Cultural District of Cartagena de Indias abbreviated Cartagena de Indias, D. and C., is the capital of the Department of Bolivar, Colombia. It was founded on June 1, 1533 by Pedro de Heredia. Since 1991 Cartagena is a Tourist and Cultural District. The city is located on the shores of the Caribbean Sea. Since its founding in the 16th century and throughout the Spanish colonial period, Cartagena de Indias was one of the most important ports in America. From this time comes most of its artistic and cultural heritage. On November 11, 1811, Cartagena declared itself independent from Spain. This day is a national holiday in Colombia and in the city it is being celebrated for four days known as the "Independence Festivities". The future of JCI Europe.-

The agenda of the Senate program "The Future of JCI Europe" has been discussed and is now ready to take action. For the meeting we were invited to the 1st. Part of our meeting with the European Commission office in Malta and the second day we continue in the house of Parliament.

On Friday evening a Team-building activity was organized at the "Tal-Petut" restaurant in Burgu. The chef introduced us to Slow Food Philosophy and took part in the preparation and cooking process. A great F.U.N. For most of us;). We have shown our guests for example that we are ready to serve our members.

This meeting was a success and the fruits will be communicated to our members throughout Europe.

Our appreciation goes to JCI Malta National President Rachel Cassar, JCI National President of Malta Senators Karl Grech and Vice President Jonathan J Borg.
