REOPENING LETTER

June 3, 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

I am pleased to inform you that we have received certification from Bishop Pates to reopen our church, allow- ing for the celebration of baptisms, confessions, weddings, funerals, adoration for a short time, weekday Masses, and weekend Masses for groups depending on the number of households that can be seated with a dis- tance of six feet between each household.

The process of reopening depended on developing a plan that prioritized the safety and wellbeing of all while maintaining due respect and reverence for the sacraments. I have assembled a Parish Reopening Leadership Team, who has begun to recruit and train volunteers. We are preparing the buildings as well as taking an in- ventory on and ordering cleaning and sanitation supplies and protective equipment. The first Sunday Masses will be the weekend of June 14th. We are still in need of healthy volunteers to be a part of one of the following teams:

• Set-up team: Ensures that all supplies needed for each sacramental celebration/gathering are ready for use, entrances and exits are marked and propped physically open prior to attendees’ arrival/departure, windows are opened, etc.

• Greeting team: Assists in managing the flow of congregants as they enter the church, making sure at- tendees use hand sanitizer upon entering, are wearing a mask, and are reminded not to enter if ill; directing people to appropriate seating/waiting areas, etc.

• Cleaning team: Maintains and cleans essential and trafficked areas of the church before and after the church has been used.

Please send me a message at [email protected] to indicate your willingness and ability to volunteer.

Because we must limit the number of attendees to minimize the risk of the spread of disease, and in order to avoid turning people away at our doors, we have established an online registration system. We are encourag- ing parishioners to visit our webpage and sign up so that we know how many attendees to expect at Mass and avoid overcrowding. I also ask you to not sign up for everything at once but to allow for others to register. Please be patient as we establish this new system, and please be understanding as we try to make the Mass available to all who wish to attend under these limitations.

I ask you to be patient and flexible when we return to Mass. Not only will there be less people, but you will need to arrive early to check in (because you have registered) and you will be led to and from your pew. Masks or cloth face coverings must be worn, and there will be less singing and interaction with others. The bishop has extended the dispensation from the Sunday obligation during the pandemic, and so if you are not feeling well or are vulnerable, you may stay home. I know this may feel awkward, but I am happy that we will be able to return to the sacraments, to the font of grace. It is also important to remember that the guidelines and measures are designed to protect our wellbeing and that of our broader community. Please visit our web- site for more information and details about Masses, expectations, and registrations. May God grant you His peace during this time, and may He bless and protect you and your loved ones.

In Christ, Fr. Matt

CARTA DE REAPERTURA

3 junio 2020

GRACE AND ETERNAL LIFE Moses is a man after our own hearts, for haven’t we all dealt with more than our share of stiff-necked people? Indeed, haven’t we all gotten a little stiff-necked our- selves at times? Complaining . . . impatient . . . quick to anger. How lucky for Moses—how lucky for all of us— that God is exactly the opposite! And we don’t even have to guess about it. The Lord tells us so directly. According- ly, Moses does what we all need to do. Even with the tab- lets in hand, he bows down and asks for God’s for- giveness and grace. Encouraging us to live together in peace—and in God’s favor—the Apostle Paul knows all about this grace, joyfully invoking Christ’s grace on us along with God’s love and the Holy Spirit’s. “Rejoice,” he says. And when Sebahar it comes to rejoicing, John offers us the gladdest words of all: the assurance of eternal life through Jesus. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

Thank you, ladies of our parish’s CCW, for all of your hard work!

“The National Council of Catholic Women acts through its members to support, empower and educate all Catholic women in spirit- uality, leadership and service NCCW programs respond with Gospel values to the needs of the Church and society in the modern world. This year the National Council of Catholic Women, a federation of Catholic women’s organizations, celebrates its 100th anniversary.

The United States Catholic Bishops formed the organization on March 4, 1920, “to give Catholic women of the country a common voice and an instrument for unified action in all matters affecting Catholic or national welfare.

In its early years, the NCCW worked with the National Catholic Welfare Council to aid Catholic refugees with relocation. It also focused on Catholic education, establishing a parent-teacher organizations, catechetical instruction, and college Newman Clubs. In 1946, the NCCW began a long-term partnership with Catholic Relief Serves. Over the years, NCCW has aided war refugees, began the Madonna Plan to aid mothers and expectant mothers, and supported Water for Life, providing clean water to families.

Novena Prayer for Our Priests We thank you, God our Father, for those who have responded to Your call to serve Your Church as priests. Accept this prayer we offer on their behalf: Fill Your priests with the sure knowledge of Your love. Open their hearts to the power and joy of the Holy Spirit. Keep them in relationship with Your Son. Increase in them profound faith in the Sacraments they celebrate as they nourish, strengthen, and heal us in Your Name.

Lord Jesus Christ, grant that these, your priests, may inspire us to strive for holiness by their joyful witness, as men of prayer who ponder Your Word and seek to follow Your Will.

O Mary, Queen of Priests and Mother of the Church, guard with your maternal care these chosen ones, so dear to the Heart of your Son. Intercede for our priests, that offering the Mass, they may be conformed more each day to the image of your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
