1870s: George W. Cluck arrived in About 1873, purchasing 329 acres of Texas Hill Country and built a homestead on Running Brushy Creek. Lime- CEDAR PARK stone Rock Quarry was founded on the property and became the major employer in the late 1800s.

1880s: Narrow Gauge Railroad was the first railroad to tap the miner- al-rich heart of the Hill Country. The company laid railroad tracks from Austin to Burnet. Running Brushy changed its name to Brueggerhoff in 1883, but was soon renamed Cedar Park by Emmett Cluck.

Early 1900s: Cedar yards were established to produce fence posts from the many cedar trees in the re- gion. These cedar fence posts were in high demand throughout Texas. Many workers supported their fam- ilies by cutting cedar posts.

1920s–1930s: The 3,000 sq. ft. Whitestone School first opened its doors to the children of Cedar Park.
