Education and Workforce Committee The GBC Education and Workforce Committee convened on June 6, 2019 under the leadership of its newly appointed chair, Demaune Millard, President & CEO of the Family League of Baltimore. The committee received an update on the renovation and educational goals of Port Discovery Children's Museum from Dr. Patricia Hoge, Vice President of Education and Learning Innovation. Then, Anne Arundel County Public Schools (AACPS) Career and Technology Education (CTE) Program Coordinator Deborah Albert Kremer shared AACPS efforts to reach more students with quality CTE curriculum that will translate into certifications and college credits in high demand fields. Kremer also discussed the many ways in which businesses partner with AACPS in its CTE programs. The committee continues to discuss best practices in CTE education to make recommendations as Baltimore City Public Schools reorganizes its CTE program.

Bridging the Gap Committee On June 5, the Bridging the Gap Committee, co-chaired by Phil Croskey, President & CEO of MD Energy Advisors, and Jim Ford, Executive Director of Donate Life Maryland, met to continue planning for the upcoming diversity, equity, and inclusion summit to be held this fall. Nominations will open soon for the annual Bridging the Gap Achievement Awards, featuring several new award categories.
