Non-Members Require Residency Permit

It has come to the Eelünaapéewi Lahkéewiit (Delaware Nation) Council's attention that there are Non-Members who may or may not know that pursuant to the inherent right of the Eelünaapéewi Lahkéewiit, the Council may permit, deny or revoke any granted residency. This has been in effect since zOtO and has been reinforced with the following Council motion, dated July 5th, 2OI7:

This Community Bulletin is being issued to advise that this motion is in effect and that anyone who are not registered Eelünaapéewi Lahkéewiit (Delaware Nation) members and are residing within Moraviantown still require a Residency Permit.

Pleose note: there ore non-refundable monetory fees for a probationory opplication, completion of a successful probøtionary period and thereofter, an annuol renewal of approved residency permit.

SUPERVISION The Post Secondary and Administrative Support Assistant shall be under the supervision of the Education Manager. R. #3 Iearning goals of the Delaware Nation membership. Job Status: n Analyze and gain a strong working knowledge of the Eelünaapéewi Contrac{, 26 weeks Lahkéewiit Post Secondary Policy. 35 hours per week " Keep abreast of the latest procedures, guidelines and funding for government agencies, post secondary institutions and other regulatory bodies. Salary: . Recommend poliry amendments as required to reflect changes with post To Be Determined secondary institution protocols, government policies and student needs, " Through positive communication, support, advocate and provide direction to applicants and post secondary students to assist them in succeeding with their academic goals. QUALTFICATIONS: . Familiarity with the Eelünaapéewi Lahkéewiit community . College diploma OR a minimum High School Diploma with 3 years' experience of office administration. . Strong skills in letter writing and email correspondence protocols, ensuring spelling and grammar accuracy. . Knowledge of post secondary institution proeedures afld acädeinia would be an asset. . Experience in Education (culture, history, systems) . Must have a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, computer literate in Excel, Power Point Outlook and Access. . The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) has been notified that members of the Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF) will join colleagues throughout the province in a one-day legal strike (full withdrawal of services) on Tuesday, February 4,2020, unless a settlement is reached prior to this date.

Ifa settlement is not reached and the one-day, full strike proceeds, secondary schools and programs under the supervision of an OSSTF member at a Board or affiliated location will be closed to students on Tuesday, February 4, and will reopen to students on Wednesday, February 5,2020. Please continue to check the LKDSB website up to and including Tuesday morning for updates regarding whether secondary schools will be closed to students on Tuesday, February 4,2020.

The High school students have started their second semester on February 3,2020. It has been confirmed that Leo Nicholas will be the guest speaker at RDHS for the guest speaker series. Leo Nicholas is a member of the Munsee- Delaware Nation who has worked many capacities for his community and other organizations. There are four dates that he was confirmed, with the earliest date, March 5,2020. Keep watching the newsletter for more upcoming dates.

Congratulations to Kara Cornelius for making the Naahii Ridge Student Council. Student Council consists of6 Student CounciI members and 5 classroom representatives. As a reminder, if a provincial settlement is not reached, members of the Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO), who are in a legal strike position, will engage in one-day strike actions (full withdrawal of services) on Tuesday, February 4 and Thursday, February 6,2020. As such, LKDSB Elementary schools will be closed to students.

The Lambton Kent District School Board (LKDSB) was notified that on Monday, January 13,2020, members of the Elementary Teacher's Federation of Ontario (ETFO) will escalate the legal strike action, involving a partial withdrawal of services, to include field trips, extracumicular activities. AIAI The Associarion of lroquois and Allied Indians (AIAI) is a Political Terrirorial Organization (PTO) established in 1969, ro represent their seven member First Nation communities at all levels of government. AIAI represents approximately 20,000 Status First Nation people from Batchewana First Nation, Caldwell First Nation, Eelunaapéewii Lahkéewiit (Delaware Nation), Oneida Nation of the Thames, , , and Mohawks of the Bay of Quinte (Tyendinaga).

PURPOSE The AIAI Health Scholarship Award was created in 1989 to promote and recognize First Nations excellence in a Health or Tiaditional Healing post-secondary program. Uldmatel¡ we strive to increase the number of First Nations people entering into a health profession as their career goal. The successful applicants (2) will receive the $tOOO Heakh Scholarship and honourable recognition by AIAI's Grand Chief at rhe 2020 Annual General Assembly.
