The people’s responses are in bold. prelude Yes Shekinah Glory Ministry

The people stand as able. opening Sung by the cantor. The Church of Christ in Every Age Vernon Griffiths (1894–1985) The church of Christ in every age, For Christ alone, whose blood was shed, Beset by change but spirit led, Can cure the fever in our blood. Must claim and test its heritage And teach us how to share our bread And keep on rising from the dead. And feed the starving multitude. Across the world, across the street, We have no mission but to serve The victims of injustice cry In full obedience to our Lord: For shelter and for bread to eat To care for all without reserve. And never live until they die. And spread Christ’s liberating word. Then let the servant church arise. A caring church that longs to be A partner in Christ’s sacrifice, And clothed in Christ’s humanity

(Fred Pratt Green, 1903–2000) the opening sentence

Almighty God, give us grace to cast away the works of darkness, and put on the armor of light, now in the time of this mortal life in which your Son Jesus Christ came to visit us in great humility; that in the last day, when he shall come again in his glorious majesty to judge both the living and the dead, we may rise to the life immortal; through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.

All Amen. 1 phos hilaron The office candles are lighted as the cantor sings. Ronald Arnatt (1930–2018) O gracious light, pure brightness of the everliving Father in heaven, O Jesus Christ, holy and blessed! Now as we come to the setting of the sun, and our eyes behold the vesper light, we sing your praises, O God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. You are worthy at all times to be praised by happy voices, O Son of God, O Giver of Life, and to be glorified through all the worlds.

The people are seated. psalm 121 Sung by the cantor. chant: Daryl L. A. Hunt (b. 1970) I lift up my eyes to the hills; from where is my help to come? My help comes from the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot be moved and he who watches over you will not fall asleep. Behold, he who keeps watch over Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep; The Lord himself watches over you; the Lord is your shade at your right hand, So that the sun shall not strike you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord shall preserve you from all evil; it is he who shall keep you safe. The Lord shall watch over your going out and your coming in, from this time forth for evermore. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen the first lesson 40:1-5 “Comfort, O comfort my people,” says your God. “Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that she has served her term, that her penalty is paid, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins.” A voice cries out: “In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain. 2 Then the glory of the Lord shall be revealed, and all people shall see it together, for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”

Reader The Word of the Lord. People Thanks be to God. the Sung by the cantor. Canticle of the Turning Irish traditional melody; arr. Rory Cooney (b. 1952) My soul cries out with a joyful shout That the God of my heart is great, And my spirit sings of the wondrous things That you bring to the ones who wait. You fixed your sight on your servant's plight, And my weakness you did not spurn, So from east to west shall my name be blest, Could the world be about to turn? Refrain My heart shall sing of the day you bring. Let the fires of your justice burn. Wipe away all tears, for the dawn draws near, And the world is about to turn. Though I am small, my God, my all, You work great things in me, And your mercy will last from the depths of the past To the end of the age to be. Your very Name puts the proud to shame, And to those who would for you yearn, You will show your might, put the strong to flight, For the world is about to turn. Refrain From the halls of power to the fortress tower, Not a stone will be left on stone. Let the king beware for your justice tears Every tyrant from his throne. The hungry poor shall weep no more, For the food they can never earn; There are tables spread; every mouth be fed, For the world is about to turn. Refrain Though the nations rage from age to age, We remember who holds us fast: God's mercy must deliver us From the conqueror's crushing grasp. This saving word that our forebears heard Is the promise which holds us bound, Till the spear and rod can be crushed by God, Who is turning the world around. Refrain 3 the second lesson Mateo 28:16-20/Matthew 28:16-20 Así pues, los once discípulos se fueron a Galilea, al cerro Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the que Jesús les había indicado. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.
