“EXODUS: A GLIMPSE OF - God Hears” Pastor Jason Scheler and Pastor Corey Grunklee 09/15/2019

Exodus in One Verse: “I am the your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.” Exodus 20:2

MEMORY VERSE And God heard their groaning, and God remembered his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob. 25 God saw the people of Israel—and God knew. (Exodus 2:24-25)

1. GOD HEARS. A. WHAT HAS YOU AS ITS SLAVE? Their cry for rescue from slavery came up to God. (Exodus 2:23c)

B. IS AS POWERFUL AS THE ONE WHO HEARS IT. “Pray then, like this…” (Matthew 6:9)

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. (Romans 8:26)

2. GOD REMEMBERS. A. WHAT IS YOUR MIND’S OBSESSION? Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with heavy burdens. (Exodus 1:11a)

B. GOD ALSO FORGETS. “I, I am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your sins.” (Isaiah 43:25)

3. GOD SEES. A. WHAT HAS COME BETWEEN YOU AND JESUS? When he went out the next day, behold, two Hebrews were struggling together. And he said to the man in the wrong, “Why do you strike your companion?” (Exodus 1:13)

B. GOD SEES JESUS IN YOUR PLACE. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21)

4. GOD KNOWS. A. WHAT IS THE NEXT STEP? Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. (Exodus 1:8)

B. GOD’S WORD DOES WHAT IT SAYS. “She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” (Matthew 1:21) GOING DEEPER 1. Take some time this week to ask yourself the questions again from the outline. As the answers come to you, remember God’s promises of hearing, remembering, seeing and knowing you! He will rescue you from the answers to the questions, and your will rise! 2. Begin or continue reading through the book of Exodus. Perhaps you could ask someone to read with you. If you have questions as you read, please feel free to ask the pastors or anyone from church you feel comfortable asking. It is a great thing to be exploring God’s Word together!
