< Back to Community Events List Walk for Values Date: Saturday, June 6 Description: A grand community walk that will be held in on Saturday, June 6th of 2009. This event is titled “Walk for Values” and is annually held in different parts of North America beginning with , Ottawa, Kingston, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, , Edmonton, , Houston, Dallas, New York, and Seattle to name a few. This walk is also conducted in Malaysia, New Zealand, India and in the six national states of Australia.

The purpose of this walk is to raise awareness of the importance of practising VALUES in our daily lives for the betterment of ourselves, our community, and the environment. These values may be that of tolerance, understanding, respect, patience and/or other virtues that strengthen one’s character and benefits the society as a whole. Hence, the theme of this year’s walk is “Global Conservation through Self-Transformation”; it is only when we begin to change ourselves from within that the world will begin to reflect that change.

The most unique aspect of this walk is that it is not a fund-raising event! The participants do not walk to raise money for anything and instead walk to make a commitment to themselves to practise values in their daily lives. As we walk, we pledge to become better human beings instead of behaving as just day-to-day machines that lack morals. The walk is to realize the “I could care less attitude” in ourselves and transform it to “If I don’t care, then who will?” This event is hosted by Sai Baba Centre of Edmonton. Time: 1PM - 4PM. On site registration starts at 1PM. (Start and finish at McIntyre Park, address: 83 Ave - 104 Street, Stratchona) On-line registration link: www.saibabacentre-edmonton.ca Copyright © - All Rights Reserved.
