DAY 01 , Sat : October Eighteenth Plan to arrive in London by late afternoon today. Make your way to

our London Hotel ( which will be advised closer to departure) You will meet your fellow travellers, your Coronation Travel Tour Host Neville MacKay and our Tour Manager Marilyn Parker at a welcome reception in the hotel at 5PM. Neville and/or Marilyn will be available in the hotel lobby from 4:30PM-4:45PM to greet you and give you directions to the reception. Your tour name badge will be given to you at the reception. Please do try and wear it throughout the tour, as it helps our tour manager to keep track of everyone along the way ! Neville and Marilyn will be with us throughout the tour, and it won’t take you very long to get to know and enjoy their personalities and professionalism. We suggest spending some time after you arrive in London getting acquainted with this bustling city which will be your home for the next 3 nights. Please don’t go for a nap, as you will then be up half the night and be tired the next day. Plan to do a bit of browsing, have a bite of lunch, and an early supper, and you should be right as rain the next morning ! The hotel will keep your luggage in the secure luggage area for you until your room is ready, and will be very happy to assist you with maps and directions to some local sites close to the hotel. Some rooms may be ready a bit earlier, but please don’t expect to be able to check in much before 2PM. As you no doubt will want to crawl into bed early tonight, no group dinner is planned, but please don’t miss the reception at 5PM ! (B)

Many important events and celebrations have taken place at St. Paul’s including the funeral of Winston Churchill, the Jubilee Celebrations for Queen Victoria, peace services marking the end of the first and second world wars , and of course the wedding of Charles, Prince of Wales to Lady Diana Spencer. We have a lot of ground to cover today to ensure you get to see as much as possible, so please stick with the group. Time will be allowed at each stop to take photos and purchase some souvenirs. Some of the souvenir shops tend to be quite busy at times, with lengthy queues, so please do try and complete your shopping as quickly as possible in order to not get separated from the group or hold up the coach.

This evening join Tour Host Neville and Tour Manager Marilyn in the hotel dining room for our first group dinner together. You won’t want to miss it, as you never know what treats and entertainment Neville has up his sleeve! (B,SD)

Day 04 Oct 21st, Tue: LONDON - WINDSOR - WINCHESTER

After breakfast at the hotel, we bid farewell to London town this morning and head off on a short drive to Windsor, where we will visit Windsor Castle , Queen Elizabeth’s

preferred weekend home. After our visit to the castle, we will have some time in Windsor to poke around in the shops, and have a bite to eat for lunch before heading off to Winchester. In Winchester we will visit the famous Winchester

Cathedral - one of the largest cathedrals in England, with the longest nave and greatest overall length of any Gothic cathedral in Europe. The novelist Jane Austen, died in Winchester on 18 July 1817. Her funeral was held in the cathedral and she was buried in the north aisle. In 2005, the building was used as a film set for The Da Vinci Code, with the north transept used as the Vatican. Winchester Cathedral is possibly the only cathedral to have had popular songs written about it. "Winchester Cathedral" was a UK top ten hit and a US number one song for The New Vaudeville Band in 1966. The cathedral was also the subject of the Crosby, Stills & Nash song, "Cathedral" from their 1977 album CSN. Liverpool-based band Clinic released an album titled Winchester Cathedral in 2004. We will check in to our hotel in Winchester for the night and then enjoy a lovely dinner together in our hotel. ( B,D)

We will visit Downton Village where you will get a guided tour of familiar sites such as Downton hospital, the village pub, the home of Matthew Crawley and the local church. This evening would be a perfect time to take in a play at the Royal Shakespeare or Swan Theatre. By March/April 2014 we will be able to advise you what will be playing, and assist with ticket information. As many will probably opt for the theatre this evening, dinner will be on your own. ( B)

Day 08

Oct.25th, Sat: LIVERPOOL Our day begins after breakfast at our hotel, with a wonderful and very informative full sightseeing tour of Liverpool. You will get to see so many of the local sites linked to the famous four Beatles, and will be thrilled with some of the personal stories about the “Fab Four” shared by our local guide. We visit the present day Cavern Club , ( lots of great souvenirs here ) get to see some of the childhood homes of the Beatles, Strawberry Field , Penny Lane, the statue of Eleanor Rigby dedicated to all the lonely people, the 18 ft. European Peace Monument in Chavasse Park dedicated to the memory of John Lennon , and then we visit The Beatles Story. This award winning experience is an atmospheric journey into the life, times, culture and music of the Beatles. Not only does your admission cover the Albert Dock Beatles Story venue, but also includes admission to the new Pier Head Beatles Story located at the Mersey Ferry Terminal ( there is a shuttle service available or you can opt to walk the 10 minutes ) The Pier Head location now permanently houses The Beatles Hidden Gallery. A series of 38 black and white photos which photographer Paul Berriff took of the Beatles during 1963/ 64 just months before Beatlemania struck, and were forgotten in his attic for nearly 50 years. The images show the four in unguarded moments while rehearsing and relaxing, and in late August 2010 were placed on permanent display in the Pier Head Beatles Story location.

For those not interested in the Beatles Story, a visit to the International Slavery Museum or the Merseyside Maritime Museum might be of interest. There will be plenty of time to wander through the shops and boutiques in the Albert Dock area and pick up some souvenirs. Once we finish the Beatles Story tour and some time to browse the Albert Dock area, you can decide to hop back on our coach to the hotel, or spend some more time poking about in the Albert Dock area, as we have purposely not included dinner this evening so you will not feel rushed. You might want to take the ‘Ferry Cross The Mersey’ as the song says, ( and they do play the song) then grab a cab or bus and head back over to the Cavern Club on Mathew Street for a pub style dinner and listen to up and coming new bands from late afternoon through until late evening.

The Cavern Club is the cradle of British pop music, the place where the Beatles musical identity was formed. Today's Cavern is a thriving live music destination and one of Liverpool’s top places to visit. The three venues - the Cavern Club, Cavern Live Lounge and the Cavern Pub - showcase not only the incredible legacy of The Beatles, but also new up and coming bands and established artists. Discover for yourself the evocative spirit of this legendary venue and experience the unique and powerful Cavern sound performed live on stage every afternoon till late in the evening.

If shopping is your pleasure, the impressive LIVERPOOL 1 shopping centre is just a 5-10 minute walk from the Albert Dock area. It is open until 7PM. With over 170 shops, Liverpool 1, is the largest open air shopping centre in the United Kingdom. Whatever you choose to do, we know you will thoroughly enjoy your time in Liverpool. ( B)

Day 09

Oct 26th, 6 Sun : LIVERPOOL - MANCHESTER

We leave Liverpool right after breakfast for the short drive to Manchester where we will meet up with our specialist guide Mark, the former manager of Roy Barraclough, “our Alec Gilroy”, as he gives us a personally guided tour of many of the sites in and around Manchester used in the filming of Coronation Street episodes. We get to see the Red Rec, Town Hall, the canal where Richard Hillman met his demise, the church where many Corrie weddings have taken place and lots more. Mark always tries to have the local vicar open the church for us so we can actually walk around inside the spot where so many of our favourite Corrie stars have been. Take note of the “watering hole” directly across the street from the church…this is where most of the cast hangs out while waiting for their specific scene to be filmed when they are on location at the church. This tour has been a favourite with our past groups, so don’t forget your camera! You will have a bit of free time later in the afternoon after the tour concludes, before the group meets for dinner at the hotel. Take a short jaunt to the Trafford Shopping Centre to do some last minute shopping as tomorrow is the grand finale of our tour! ( B,D)

Day 10

Oct.27th, Mon:MANCHESTER – The Grand Finale!

Today we immerse ourselves into CORONATION STREET as we visit the brand new inside and outside sets of Coronation Street at Media City in Salford Quays. ( Media City is also the new headquarters for the BBC.)Marilyn will let you know the evening before what time we will be going to the studios. It has traditionally been set for 1PM, however it is always dependent upon their filming schedule, and they may have to schedule a morning visit. But not to worry, you will be there on this day!

Coronation Street began broadcasting on December 9, 1960 and is the longest running “” in the world. We visit both the inside and outside sets of “the street”, and will hopefully be able to see actual filming (depending on the day’s schedule) As Granada /ITV does not know what will be taking place until approximately two weeks in advance, we can never guarantee, but our past five tours were thrilled to have been present on the set during filming and had the opportunity to meet many of the current actors, and pose for some photos and a brief chat. “Gobsmacked” usually describes the emotions of our guests on this day, fulfilling the dream of die-hard Coronation St. fans!

You will have some free time today either before or after our studios visit to relax and take in the rest of Manchester, pick up some last minute souvenirs, and spend some last hours with your new friends. This evening we will have our farewell dinner at the hotel.

Our farewell dinner will be a special evening, with a lovely menu and some surprise entertainment. Before you turn in for the night make sure you pack your bags. Please let Marilyn and Neville know your plans for the morning and if you would like to share a taxi with someone else going to the airport or train station later the following morning. One early morning coach transfer will be made to the Manchester airport for anyone

wishing to avail of it. (B,SD) Day 11

FINAL DAY TUESDAY OCTOBER TWENTY EIGHTH : MANCHESTER - CANADA or Continue With Own Itinerary

Breakfast will be available early this morning at the hotel before you set off on your own or head to the airport to begin your flight home. (B)

Please note some alterations in dates or times and itinerary changes may have to be made due to traffic or road conditions, flight delays, closed attractions, weather and /or circumstances beyond our control. While Granada/ITV Studios has scheduled our Coronation Street visit for October 27th,2014, slight modifications may have to be made in the itinerary at the request of Granada/ITV studios should they have circumstances occur which will not permit our visit at the time scheduled. In the eight year history of this tour, that has never occurred, and we will endeavour to adhere to the itinerary as presented.
