Sir Malcolm Halley, the then governor of United Province, found the place suitable for Golf and the golf course was designed and constructed by the British Army engineers. Choubatiya Garden About Chaubatia Gardens Chaubatia Gardens is located about 10 km south of Ranikhet in Almora district of Uttarakhand. The name Chaubatia literally suggests the junction of 4 ways. Near RanikhetIts a huge garden of lush green fields near Ranikhet, Almora. 10kms in the south of Main Ranikhet. Nainital Lake As per Indian mythology, Naini Lake is the place where goddess Sati's eyes fell out of her charred body while being carried by Lord Shiva in extreme anger and grief upon her death. Hence, the name Nain-Tal which refers to lake of the eye and is considered to be one the 'Shakti Peeths'. Sattal Lake Sattal or Sat Tal (Hindi for "seven lakes") is an interconnected group of seven freshwater lakes situated in the Lower Himalayan Range near Bhimtal, a town of the Nainital district in Uttarakhand, India. During the British Raj, the area had a tea plantation, one of four in the Kumaon area at that time. Navkuchiya Tal At a distance of nearly 24 km from Nainital and 5km from Bhimtal, Naukuchiatal is the deepest (135 ft) and by far the most serene lake of the region with its irregular nine corners. It was early 1820s and the Kumaon hills were slowly yet progressively opening doors to the British adventurers in India Bhimtal Lake Bhimtal is an ancient place named after Bhima of Mahabharata. Bhimeshwara Mahadev Temple, an old Shiva temple in the bank of Bhimtal lake, is believed to have been built when Bhima visited the place during the banishment (vanvas) period of Pandavas. Almora During Independence of India in 1947, Kausani was situated in the Almora District till 15 September 1997 after which Bageshwar district was carved out of Almora district. On 9 November 2000, the State of Uttarakhand was created from the Himalayan and adjoining northwestern districts of Uttar Pradesh. Deer Park Deer Park is a major attraction in Almora. It is located at a distance of 3 kms from Almora and has a number of pine trees which enriches the natural beauty of the place. The mesmerizing beauty of the surroundings is unparalleled. Tourists from all over the world visit the Deer Park to have a look at the endangered species of deer, leopard and Himalayan black bear. Deer Park is for the wildlife lovers as well as the nature lovers. Wildlife lovers can see the rare species and the nature lovers can take a nature walk amidst the natural beauty and tranquility. Devta Temple History of Chitai Temple Almora The history says the temple was built in 12th century by a general belonging to the Chand dynasty. It gained fame over the centuries for proving helpful to anybody visiting this temple Golu Devta was blessed general of Chand dynasty that once ruled Almora. Anasakti Ashram Anasakti Ashram is a peaceful place in Kausani famous for the stay of Mahatma Gandhi for two weeks in 1929. Also known as Gandhi Ashram, this place was described by Gandhi Ji himself as the Switzerland of India, after falling in love with its pristine beauty. Kausani Tea Estate Kausani is most famous for its sprawling tea gardens and pear orchards. With a visit to Kausani Tea Estate, you can get an insight into how tea is manufactured in the estate. This high-quality tea is exported to many countries like Australia, Korea, Germany and US. The lush green surroundings with mountains in the backdrop and serene environment make for a picturesque setting. Baijnath Temple There is a famous Baijnath Mandir (Lord Shiva) on the bank of the river which is said to have been built by the Kumaon Katyuri king in around 1150 A.D. and it was Capital of the Katyuri dynasty of kings who ruled Uttaranchal during 12th and 13th century, Baijnath was once known as Kartikyapura. Corbett Park Jim Corbett National Park is the oldest national park in India and was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park to protect the endangered Bengal tiger. It is located in Nainital district and Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand and was named after Jim Corbett, a well known hunter and naturalist. Jungle Safari from Seetavani Sitabani Forest Zone (Buffer Zone), Entry Gate: Near Teda Village (Private Vehicle Allowed), Approx 4 km From Ramnagar. The Sitabani forest zone is the reserve forest zone located outside the Corbett Tiger reserve area. The zone is treated as the Buffer area of the tiger reserve and is open to everyone to visit here.
