Role of libraries in Pharmacy Education

ABSTRACT This paper is to discuss the findings on Research Productivity of role of libraries in Pharmacy education among Pharmacy students in Chhattisgarh. For the purpose of data collection, 46 questionnaires were distributed. The findings reveal that majority of users 28 (60.86%) are of female respondents, 32 (69.56%) greater part of respondents use digital resources daily. It is also clear that highest numbers of 39 (84.78%) respondents are using digital resources to prepare course materials for study in the field. KEYWORDS: Pharmacy Education, digital literacy, digital resources.

1. INTRODUCTION Pharmacy education is essential for the development of basic medical and pharmaceutical sciences to serve the society. Libraries are provided in supporting and achieving the mission of higher education in today’s information world. Faculty, students and research scholars always depend on libraries and librarians. Librarians generously share their knowledge with them. It is important to work with your librarians to embed information literacy training into delivery of support for the course. Computer is very important because they are applied in almost all the fields in the Modern Era.

2. OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY The following objectives of the study are: 1. To find research productivity of role of libraries in Pharmacy education and digital literacy among Pharmacy students in Chhattisgarh. 2. To find out the frequency of use of digital resources pharmacy students. 3. To identify the purpose of using digital resources pharmacy students.

3. METHODOLOGY OF THE STUDY The present study was conducted pharmacy students. For collecting of data from the respondents’ questionnaire was administered. 46 questionnaires were distributed among the students. 4. PHARMACY EDUCATION IN CHHATTISGARH There has been a substantial quantitative growth of pharmacy institution in the state towards the promotion and development pharmaceutical field.

The demographic profiles of pharmacy students reveals sex, age group and education level which is summarized below that the total 46 students are differently designated in the categories of Pharmacy education 21 (45.65%), D. Pharmacy. and 25 (54.34 %) The majority of users 28 (60.86%) are of female followed by 18 (39.13 %) male. The break up depict that 35 (79.08%) users bel ong to age group of 19-20 years’ followed by 11 (23.91%) users the age group of 21 -23.

(17.39%), once in a week 4 (8.69%) and occasionally 2 (4.34 %). It is clear from the table 2 th at a greater part of students 32 (69.56 %) use digital resources daily.

The analysis of purpose of using digital resources is given in figure 3. Data reveals that the purpose of using digital resources to prepa re course materials for study 39 (8 4.78%) followed by to update subject knowledge 87(15.21 %). It expose that highest number of respondents 39 (84.78%) are using digital resources to prepare course materials for study in the field.

Figure 4 Preferred Location to access digital resources Respondents were asked to state their preferred location to access digital resources from figure 4. It is clear that library 24 (52.17%) followed by hostel 12 (26.08 %) and home 10 (21.73 %) Mostly preferred location to access digital resources was in the library 24 (52.17 %).

7. CONCLUSION AND FINDING • The result of the study shows that the majority of users 28 (60.86 %) are of female respondents. • It is clear from the study that majority of students 32 (69.56%) used digital resources daily. • It expose that highest number of respondents 39 (84.78 %) are using digital resources to prepare course materials for study in the field. • It indicates that the mostly preferred location to access digital resources was in the library 24 (52.17%).
