After placing fourth in the conference 2000 SCHEDULE (19-12, 10-8 Pac-10) standings and receiving an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament, Stanford won its first 9/1 Drake+ W, 3-0 round match against No. 22 Loyola Marymount, 3-0. The Cardinal then lost a heartbreaker 9/1 Portland State+ W, 3-0 to No. 14 UC-Santa Barbara, 3-2, in Santa Barbara, Calif. Stanford finished outside the 9/3 at New Mexico+ W, 3-0 9/5 at Utah L, 2-3 top 16 nationally for the first time in the history of the program. Against UC-Santa Barbara, Kagawa set Individual a career high with 80 assists in the five-game loss (three assists shy of the school record Assists: 5th, Lindsay Kagawa (12.99) held by Carrie Feldman - 10/19/90). Kagawa started in all 31 matches on the year and reached 1,000 assists for the second consecutive season. Kagawa also surpassed the Team 3,000 assists mark for her career (just the fourth Cardinal to do it). Digs: T8th, Stanford (14.57) CONRAD ENDS SEASON WITH CAREER-HIGH 25 KILLS: Junior Tara Conrad SA: 9th, Stanford (1.13) (Torrance, CA) notched a career-high 25 kills in the Cardinal’s 3-2 loss to UCSB in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Stanford Cardinal Women’s Volleyball (NCAA Champions - 1992, 1994, 1996, 1997) FORMER STANFORD STANDOUT JOINS COACHING STAFF: Kim Oden, a former CARDINAL SEASON HIGHS U.S. National Team and Stanford standout, completed her first season with the Stanford women’s volleyball coaching staff as an assistant coach. Oden, who graduated from Individual Bests Stanford in 1986 with a degree in Public Policy, was a three-time All-American during her Attack Percentage (minimum 12 kills): .636 (17-3-22), Logan Tom (11/16) time on The Farm.
