2017-18 St. Mary Catholic Schools Donor Report St. Gabriel Elementary • St. Margaret Mary Elementary • St. Mary Elementary St. Mary Catholic Middle School • St. Mary Catholic High School A Message from SMCS President Helen Englebert Dear Friends and Families of SMCS, It is a true blessing to be a leader for St. Mary Catholic Schools. As president, I have the privilege to witness the generosity of so very many benefactors of SMCS. All too often we think of donor support from a financial standpoint, but the reality is that a vast number of individuals also give unselfishly of their time and many talents to support our school system. This humble giving manifests itself in so many ways, and truly serves as part of the strong foundation that enables our schools’ dedicated faculty and staff to carry out our mission through Catholic education. Looking at a snapshot of last year, donor financial support provided: • A spectacular $1.5 million fully equipped 6,500 square foot fitness and training center addition to our high school • A $150,000+ conversion of our high school IMC (library) to an updated resource center to facilitate student learning and counseling • An investment of more than $76,500 for nearly 1,900 classroom leveled book sets, supporting materials for spelling, vocabulary, and phonics, and corresponding teacher training for our elementary literacy program (materials for grades 6-8 will be added in 2018-19) • Acquisition of $43,000 for Project Lead The Way (PLTW) instructional materials and teacher training to support integration of our grades 2-8 science and technology curriculum (K-12 in 2018-19) • Annual fund support in the amount of $187,991 for our operating budget • Additional revenue of $434,122 through our Zephyrfest, Z-NIGHT, Zephyrs Gold, and Scrip fundraiser profits • Funds in excess of $311,000 for student activities through fine arts/activity/athletic booster clubs and elementary/middle school events It is remarkable, the many ways in which our donors and volunteers help our SMCS community. It is through partnership with family, church and community that we are able to provide excellence in Catholic education focused on faith, academics, service and personal development from preschool through high school. With the help of your engagement and contributions, our learning community is enriched to provide rigorous and relevant instruction while developing our students to be Disciples of Christ. On behalf of our youngest learners to our twelfth grade leaders, we thank you for everything you do to make a profound and lasting impact in our schools, and most importantly, for our students!
