3 3 T he purpose of the requested mapping is to generate comprehensive k nowledge at a post

0 disaster phase, referring to forest fire incidents during the summer of 2016 in M adeira island. 0

8 T he analysis refers to two individual sites; Calheta and . T he assessment includes damage delineation and grading, considering three damage # classes (not burnt, partly burnt and heavily burnt). M oreover, towards adequate disaster preparedness and efficient support of informed decision mak ing concerning planning and recovery activities of the involved stak eholders, evaluation (potential / extent) of occurrence of landslides secondary risk was also carried out on the basis of the post-event situation. m T he products elaborated in the framework of the current Risk and Recovery mapping a activation are realised to the best of our ability. All geographic information has limitations due e r to scale, resolution, date and interpretation of the original data sources. T he products are t s compliant with the Copernicus EM S Risk and Recovery P roduct P ortfolio specifications. a n e 00 l Map Production 6 a d 0 0 a 8 T he present map shows the landslide risk of the population, P O Is and transportation network .

M T he landslide haz ard is produced by using N G I methodology for 100 year extreme monthly rainfall. T he adopted approach incorporates the triggering factor of rainfall and the conditioning factors of slope inclination, LU /LC, soil moisture and the geological setting. At the requested scale the slope inclination is the most influencing factor. For the risk assessment the runout distance was tak en into account around the high haz ard z ones for the determination of the built up areas and road network segments at high risk . T he areas which present high risk values are mainly characteriz ed by steep slopes and possibly affected by the fires. T he estimated geometric accuracy of the images is 2.5 m, from native positional 00 5 accuracy of the back ground satellite image, compliant with JRC requirements for 1:10,000 cartography. T he estimated thematic accuracy of this product is 85% or better, based on internal validation procedures and visual interpretation of recogniz able items on very high resolution optical imagery.

0 0 0 0 0 7 0 T he statistical table included in this map shows (i) the number of assets allocated in each 0 0

2 2 landslide risk level, (ii) the length of the various road network types at various risk levels. 2 2 6 6
