Greenwood Community Schools School Closing Information Bad Greenwood Community Schools School Closing Information Bad weather or power failure may result in closing schools within the Greenwood Community School Corporation. The decision to close schools is based upon reports from school administrators, the Police Department and city street officials. Historically, the compactness of the school corporation and the efficiency of the street department have permitted Greenwood Schools to remain open while other corporations have been forced to close. Announcements concerning school closing will normally be made no later than 6:00 AM with the information sent to the following TV and radio stations: • Channel 6 • Channel 8 • Channel 13 • FOX 59 • WTTS (92.3 FM) • WZPL (99.5 FM) • WCBK (102.3 FM) • WEDJ (107.1 FM, Radio Latina) • WNTR (107.9 FM) • WSYW (810 AM, LaQue Buena) • WXNT (1430 AM) Patrons are asked not to call offices and homes of school officials. These phones must be kept open to receive and send information on road conditions and communication with other officials. The decision concerning a child attending school has always rested with parents when it relates to illness or safety. If parents are concerned about bus transportation, they may transport their children themselves. Parents should also be sure their children are dressed according to existing weather conditions. Double and triple bus runs in the Greenwood Community School Corporation plus the complexities of vocational and special education transportation make late starts and early dismissals very difficult. However, parents are asked to have an emergency arrangement for their children in the even that a late start or early dismissal is required. .

INDY MEGA ADOPTION EVENT SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES June 22/23 2019 Indiana State Fairgrounds WHAT IS THE ABOUT THE EVENT Held two weekends each year, the Indy Mega Adoption Events are two-day pet adoption extravaganzas at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Participating central Indiana animal shelters and rescues bring thousands of adoptable pets together under one roof to offer potential pet parents the opportunity to take home a dog or cat at a reduced adoption fee. All animals are fixed, microchipped, and ready to take home that day. The event is free to the public with the opportunity to purchase an early bird entry for $15 (parking at the fairgrounds is $8). 2019 marks the the sixth year for the Indy Mega Adoption Events. In 2018 alone the events in June and October saw lines of potential pet parents wrapped around the building and nearly 1,400 cats and dogs placed in loving forever homes. COMMUNITY IMPACT Thanks to events like the Mega Adoption Event and increased awareness about the plight of shelter animals, we have come a long way over the past few years. Just a few years ago, as many as 22,000 animals were euthanized in Indianapolis shelters each year. Today in Indianapolis, the number is down to less than 1,900 annually. But we believe that’s still far too many. Healthy pets are being put down each year because there simply isn’t enough space to shelter them. Our city has a wealth of people dedicated to animal welfare and remarkable rescue groups and shelters. By working together, we can achieve our common goal: more pets in more loving homes.
