DESCRIPTION OF POST:

A cleaner/key holder is required to work 10 hours per week at the West End Flying Start Centre, formerly West End Nursery. Duties will include ensuring that the Flying Start Centre is maintained to a high level of hygiene and cleanliness. The successful candidate will be the centre key holder and will be responsible for opening and locking the centre daily.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake cleaning tasks such as washing floors and walls, sweeping, vacuuming, dusting and emptying of litter bins.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Flying Start Manager

JOB PURPOSE:

To ensure that the Flying Start Centre is maintained to a high level of hygiene and cleanliness. To ensure that the building is secure out of working hours.

Job outline – main duties:

 To complete cleaning tasks of washing floors and walls, sweeping, empting litter bins, polishing and dusting.

 To be the centre key holder and will be responsible for opening and locking the centre. Attend to the opening and closing of the premises at designated times and to be responsible for general security at all times. In connection with this the post holder may be called out at unsociable hours or at weekends to deal with security problems.

 To undertake the cleaning of sanitary areas.

 To safely operate vacuum cleaners and polishing/scrubbing machines.

 To ensure that adequate stock of cleaning materials are maintained.

 To ensure the correct use of chemicals at all times.

 To undertake any necessary training for the post.

 To observe Health and Safety regulations, as laid down by the authority to ensure the safety of themselves and others.

 To abide by the principals and practice of equal opportunity as laid down in the Councils Equal Opportunities Policy.
