Ausgrid Women in Trades Work Experience Week Ausgrid will host the first Women in Trades Work Experience Week from 26 – 29 November this year at their learning centre in Silverwater. Scholarships/Cadetships:

The Horizon Scholarship Applications close Fri 1 st February. The Horizon Scholarship is designed to support the next generation of agricultural leaders and is for young people who are passionate about agriculture, have an interest in the future of the industry, and are entering their first year of university studying an agriculture-related degree. Scholarship recipients will be selected based on their commitment to a career in agriculture, as well as their leadership potential and high school academic record. RASF Community Futures Grant Applications close 6pm Fri 11 th January 2013. The Royal Agricultural Society of NSW Foundation (RASF) is offering up to $25,000 in funding for a community project between a young person and a community partner. To apply applicants must identify a need or issue in their local community and partner with a community organisation to create a project to address this need. University of Wollongong Bridging Courses Applications close 5 th February 2013. The University of Wollongong is offering bridging courses during the Summer session for a range of subjects. The bridging courses in Biology are recommended for students who have not studied biology before and are planning to undertake a degree which includes Biological Sciences. The Chemistry bridging course is recommended for students without HSC Chemistry and who are planning to study chemistry. The physics bridging course is recommended for students with a limited background in physics enrolling in a first year physics course. University of Technology Sydney Mathematics and Physics Bridging Courses Courses run on Mon 4 th , Tue 5 th , Sun 11 th, and Sun 18 th of February 2013. Students entering tertiary study at UTS without the recommended or required knowledge in a particular area should consider doing a bridging course. All bridging courses are held at UTS City Campus, except for Mathematics for education students, which is run at UTS Kuring-Gai Campus. Sydney Film School High School Distinction Course Applications close 5pm Mon 26 th November Senior high school students in Year 10, 11 or 12 are invited to apply for the Digital Filmmaking Distinction Course being run by the Sydney Film school. As part of the course students will be guided by industry experts in the creation of a short film. This includes working on film grammar, script writing, the production process, crewing, camera skills, studio production, editing, and distribution. Students will be selected for the course based on their passion and determination to be filmmakers, as demonstrated by their personal statement and portfolio. OzGreen Youth Leading The World Conference Tue 27 th to 29 th November. Youth Leading The World Conferences are 3 day intensive programs in which youth explore issues of sustainability, measure and understand their own eco-footprint, and work on action plans to make change in their lives, schools, and communities.
