what happens next The next stage in this project is community engagement on key aspects of the design.

A Project Office has been established in the Sir Mark Oliphant Building. This gives the opportunity for the community to meet with the project team and discuss any aspects of the project. In addition to this a Community Liaison Group will be established to look at which aspects of the project need to be modified to minimise the impact of such a large and complex project. delivering the project The $620 million project Community Engagement and Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure will work closely ($496 million federally Construction The department will now commence with the construction contractors to funded and $124 million engagement with the community to ensure access to facilities such as state funded) will create inform residents and stakeholders the Flinders Medical Centre, Flinders Private Hospital and the Flinders approximately 370 jobs about the project, with a view to begin major works next year and University is maintained and any per annum. complete in 2018. disruptions are minimised. planning study

In December 2013, a planning study commenced that investigated South Road between Southern Expressway and Ayliffes Road at Darlington and a broader investigation in to the development of the non-stop corridor from Anzac Highway to the Southern Expressway.

The study, which will be completed by the end of environmental, social and economic impacts. It can 2014, considers the best value transport solution now be supported by engagement with local business, for the Darlington section of South Road. The study residents and a range of key stakeholders both on and has included traffic modeling and an analysis of around the South Road corridor.
