Abstract: Inthisstudy,thereproductionbiologyof332chub(Leuciscuscephalus L.1758)wasstudiedfromJune,1999,toJune, 2000,onamonthlybasisinTopçamDamLake.Eggnumberswereestimatedin65femalescaughtjustpriortospawning.Thesex andagecompositionsofchubweredetermined.Thespecimenswerecomposedof27.11%malesand72.89%females.Maleand femalechubbecomesexuallymatureinthesecondyearoftheirlifespans.SpawningisinMarchandApril.Thefecundityofchu b variesfrom2100-66,400perfemale.Theaverageeggdiameterwasbetween0.391and0.744mminvariousagegroups.

Özet: Buçal›flmada,TopçamBarajGölü’ndenHaziran1999veHaziran2000aras›ndaherayyakalanan332tatl›sukefalinin (Leuciscuscephalus L.1758)üremebiyolojisiçal›fl›lm›flt›r.Yumurtasay›s›n›ntahminindeüremedönemindeyakalanan65difliden yararlan›lm›flt›r.Araflt›rmadabal›klar›nyaflvecinsiyetkompozisyonutespitedilmifltir.‹ncelenenörneklerin%27,11’inierkek ,% 72,89’unuisediflibireyleroluflturmufltur.Butüreaiterkekvediflibal›klar2.yafltacinsiolgunlu¤aulaflm›fllard›r.Tatl›suk efaliMart –Nisanaylar›ndaüremektedirler.Yumurtaverimi2100-66,400adet/diflitespitedilmifltir.Ortalamayumurtaçap›ise0,391-0,744 mmaras›ndade¤iflimgöstermifltir.

Introduction BüyükMenderesRiverBasin,insouth-westernTurkey. Chub( Leuciscuscephalus L.1758)aremembersof Thewaterleveldecreasesinthelatespringandsummer thefamily,andarecommonandwidely everyyearbecauseofirrigation.Whentherainfallbegins distributedthroughoutEuropeanwaters,theBlackSea inwinter,thewaterlevelincreasesagain. MaterialsandMethods Fecunditywasstudiedbythegravimetricmethod Thestudywascarriedoutonthereproductionofthe (13).Theprocedurewasasfollows:sub-samplesof1or L.cephalus populationinTopçamDamLakeofsouth- 2gaccordingtothesizeoftheeggsweretakenfromthe westernAnatolia.ThestudyareaisshowninFigure1. front,middleandbackpartsoftheovaries.Thenumber inthesub-sampleswasmultiplieduptotheweightofthe Specimenswerecaughtmonthlywithgill-netsof ovary.Thediametersofvarioussizeeggsfromdifferent variousmeshsizes(18,22,25,28,35and55mm) partsoftheovaryweremeasuredwithanobject betweenJune,1999,andJune,2000.Thecaughtfish micrometerbetweenJanuaryandApril.Sexualmaturity weretransportedtothelaboratoryina4%formalin solution(10).Afterthefishsampleswerebroughttothe wasconfirmedbynotingmacroscopicallythepresenceof laboratory,theforklength(FL±0.1mm),weight,and “yolkedeggs”orsperminthegonads(10,14).Fecundity gonadweight(W±0.1g)wererecorded.Sexwas (F)-forklength(FL),fecundity-bodyweight(W), determinatedbyexaminationofthegonadtissue,eitherby fecundity-gonadweight(Gw)andfecundity-age(Xt)were eyeinbiggerfishorwiththeaidofamicroscopeinsmaller calculatedwithregressionanalyses.Fecundity(F)was fish(10).Scaleswereusedforagedetermination.Forthis calculatedfromtheequations(15) purpose,10or12scalesweretakenfrombetweenthe dorsalfinandlaterallineregionofthesideofthebodyand logF=loga+blogFL or F=a.FL b examinedunderabinocularmicroscope.Scaleswerekept logF=loga+blogW or F=a.W b in4%NaOHsolutionfor16handthenwerewashedin distilledwaterandtreatedwith70%and96%ethyl logF=loga+blogGw or F=a.Gw b alcohol(10,11).Aftercleaning,thescaleswereexamined logF=loga+blogXt or F=a.Xt b underastereomicroscopeforagedetermination.
