Life has almost stood still, however, we should be pleased for the way in which our community has come forward to help those with difficulties brought on by Covid-19 . Unfortunately, our Wiltshire figures do not appear to be improving as much as our neighbours in the South West. We can see a glimmer of light at the end of the tunnel and we can capture it if we all keep to the rules. This year in particular I prefer to look forward. A successful bid for the Future High Street Fund will, I hope, encourage the very necessary improvements to the Town Centre over the coming years. Covid is speeding up the changes to our shopping habits and with it a need to change the focus of the Towns' central area towards more leisure facilities. Hopefully a new fun pool which would prove an attraction for all our families. A start on the Ashton Park development would be welcome, with both private and social housing, leading to the much needed secondary school on the eastern side of the Town. Perhaps we will also be able to persuade County Highways to extend the pedestrian preference scheme into Market Street. This would not only help protect us from vehicle fumes but would extend to helping the condition and ambiance of Trowbridge Town Hall. Thank you for the honour of being your Mayor - life can only get better for us all us over the next year. With best wishes and remember to still stay safe.
